how long after surgery does it take to go back to work
I was just curious how long is the norm before you can return to work after lap band surgery. I have lap gallbladder removal on a Friday and was back to work the following Monday. (I was in mild pain, but bearable)
I am looking a surgery, but am a little nervous about complications, surgeries, and failure.
I would assume that it would depend on what type of work you do... I am a teacher and I could have certainly gone back after a week or two. Fatigue was my major problem.. the soreness went way in the first week.
I would guess that the more strenuous your job the longer you would have to be out. However, if your job give you STD with 6 weeks off take it! :D
I had a RNY lap on Tuesday and was back at my desk job the next Monday, I had no problems at all. I had my gallbladder done a couple months ago and ended up taking 2 weeks , for me the gallbladder was so much more painful , but I don't think that in the normal.
Good luck and don't worry you will be fine ;) Allison
I had Lap Band surgery but also had to have a fairly extensive hernia repair at the same time (which I knew beforehand). Even so, I spent only one night in the hospital and was back to work less than a week later; I could have gone back earlier if I weren't determined to have a full week off!
I agree with the idea that it's good to take some time off to get used to a new routine and new lifestyle, though. That's a very sensible recommendation.
