Ok this is my last weekend as an overwieght miserable person. I have to be at hospital on Monday am @ 7:30. How did you celebrate your last week end? I know that Sunday will be spent with clear liquids but did anyone have a "last meal" and if so what did you eat and was it satisfing? Just asking. I am thinking I would really like to have some fried shrimp and flounder Saturday nite and just wondered if I was alone. Any thoughts?

I posted about this exact same thing a few days before my surgery last week. I thought for sure I'd want a "last meal" but I didn't do it. I was so proud of the weight I had lost prior to surgery, I didn't want a binge to make me gain even an ounce. Everyone reminded me that I'll be able to enjoy some of my favorite foods in time. So my vote is for no last meal. :) Becky

I did not have a "last meal"... I was on liquids for 2 solid weeks before surgery.  On the day before surgery my SIL, daughter and I went to see "The Lion King" in Charlotte.  It was way cool!

Ah, my attempt at a "Last Supper"!  My granddaughter and I ordered something really tasty from Macaroni Grill.  It was her fifth birthday, and she wanted cake and ice cream, as well as angel-hair pasta.  I wanted ... well ... for the sake of propriety, I won't go into all the stuff I wanted!! We picked up our dinner at the restaurant and Leyla was chatting away with the woman who was packing everything up for us, telling her she'd just had a birthday and inviting her to her next birthday party and offering her a pirate eyepatch from her birthday loot.  (Awwww ... who could say no to a pirate eyepatch?!!??!) We got home and I put Leyla through her paces, getting our clothes changes and chores done, and finally we sat down to this glorious dinner.  But they'd put all the wrong things in our bag!!  Still, I somehow got Leyla to share the veggie spaghetti by promising her the ice cream and cake after we'd finished cleaning up the table.  Leyla dutifully did everything she was told, because she wanted that ice cream and cake! But lo and behold, when I opened the container for her dessert, it turned out to be ... a huge meatball.  Ugh!   Her eyes just welled up with tears and she kept saying, "But it's my birthday!" in a tiny little choked voice that would just break your heart. I called the restaurant and they immediately knew what had happened.  The woman we'd bantered with earlier heard Leyla in the background, and she offered to send someone over with the ice cream and cake.  (Awwwww!)  But it was kind of late and we just said thanks and let it go at that.  So much for Leyla's birthday dessert and my Last Supper!! When I got back home after my WLS, there was a $50 gift certificate from Macaroni Grill in the mail.  I see that they do have lovely "skinny chicken" and healthy salmon dishes on the menu, so I might be able to use it -- only this time, $50 worth of entrees will get me through an entire week!

Wow I guess I should count my blessings. I can't believe ya'll were on all liquids for 2 WEEKS! My doc just said Sunday. I have been on a low carb and high protein (less than 50 carbs a day for 9 days now). I know that I will be able to eat again after the surgery but man I know it will be awhile before anything solid passes my lips again. I really truely can't wait to get this done and see the slope on my weight chart plummet. I know it has went down some but I am ready for it to be like a stock market crash! I have lost a total of 36 lbs since August and I do worry about if I eat will it be right back. Thanks for all your input, lol, my mom said just remember what ever goes in Saturday has to come out Sunday.Guess thats reson to think before I eat! Thanks Again For Input!

I didn't have to do liquids either.  I was on a low carb diet the month before my surgury.  So close to your surgury date I wouldn't over eat (remember alot of our weight issues is mental hunger too) - it is okay to eat fried shrimp and flounder.  I would stay away from the hush puppies and fries though.  And it you have to eat a baked potato only eat 1/2 of it.  Drink water or unsweet tea.  Your choice for a "last supper" actually is not bad.  Enjoy and good luck on your upcoming surgury.  I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.   Donna

I had to do 1 week liquid pre-op. I did add lean protein and vegs because I was just starving. I managed to lose 9lbs. As for a last meal, we went a Chinese food buffet. I ate the heck out of some CRAB LEGS! Yummy. Protein, so not to bad.

Best Wishes!
