Well today I start my 2 week liquid diet of Optifast & water!! I took my first chug of the chocolate
this morning and gagged....LOL Is this even humane?? Jeeeesh!! The things we have to go thru to be skinny!!! I will take a Slimfast ANY DAY over this stuff they call a weightloss drink..LOL And to think this is ONLY the begining!!  I had so much anxiety last night with food and tried to question myself, do I really really want to go thru this because it is only going to get worse for several months!! And I just keep visualizing my life 200 lbs. lighter and say OH YEAH it will be sooooo worth it!!! I know it will! So I guess I should ask y'all wonderful ladies & gents ~  How do I deal with head hunger for the next 2 weeks? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prepare a yummy meal for the family and then have to drink 3/4 cup of crap while they are savoring enchiladas and cheeseburgers & Diet Mt. Dew? I just bought the Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies book and will be reading that like the WLS bible. SO far it seems to be an amazing book, with lots of encouragement, and answers! So if you are a newbie and have not picked up a copy yet, I do recommend it! So I go on with this lovely Wednesday sipping on my Optifast, convincing  myself it is YUM-O!!! happy wed

Well, head hunger is a pain in the you know what. I'm a week out and am having serious head hunger. Not sure how to kill it - I just drink as much as I can and convince myself I'm full. As for the family enjoying the yumm-o food - I was mean. I refused to cook for my husband and son. I told him I couldn't eat it and there was no way I was going to torture myself by cooking it. He is very understanding and doesn't have a problem with it. They eat in the kitchen - and I stay in the living room. This two weeks will go by quickly. Keep yourself busy as possible and keep your eye on the prize. It will be over before you know it.

Jami, I'm doing something a little different because of health issues. But, it's a liquid diet.  At first, this liquid seemed really sweet to me and I wondered how II was going to get it down.  Believe it or not, after a while it does get better. Try mixing/blending it really well. I've never had Optifast, is adding ice to make it more like a shake an option? You said something really interesting..."Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prepare a yummy meal for the family and then have to drink 3/4 cup of crap while they are savoring enchiladas and cheeseburgers & Diet Mt. Dew?"  I would ask you to remember that these unhealthy eatng habits are why we're in the shape we're in. Since you're "in charge" of the families eating habits, perhaps it's time to show them how to eat right.  You don't have to go cold turkey on them and make them drink fluids.  But, you can prepare nutritionally sound meals for them and save enchiladas and cheeseburgers for special occasions.  Your kids will learn by example and perhaps won't have to go thru the same struggles you are with their weight . YOUR FAMILY WANTS YOU TO SUCCEED FOR YOURSELF AND FOR THEM. Make it a team effort and everyone wins!! Kelly :) BelieveInYourself001.gif

You can so this!!!  The first 3 days are the hardest!!  I kept telling myself, "this is what I have to do to eat again!"  Get out of the house and keep your mind busy on other things!!  Clean like crazy, take the kids to the park,  go for a walk!  Just keep your mind as busy as possible with things that do not include food!  I know all about preparing meals for the famliy and not being able to eat!!  Read my Dec 2007 post on my profile!  LOL  You're gonna do this!!  IT IS SOOOO WORTH IT!!!   Andrea

Just keep your eye on the prize at the end... a healthier YOU.  I had to do the Optifast too and it got better after the first couple of days.  I didn't do much cooking for the family during that time, but when I did, it really didn't bother me that much.  I was just so happy to be getting close to surgery time!   You're at the beginning of a tough month, but after that, it will be much better... especially when you see that scale start dropping those unwanted pounds Good luck, Alice
