I picked Dr. Mann because of his manners, easy to talk to and really funny! always a smile on his face! all three of the doctors that work for Southern Surgical are top notch!!!

I'm jumping through the 6 months of insurance hoops with the pcp supervised diet thing. The Southern Surgical information session was wonderful. I had been to a doctor's ofice in Virginia last year to look into lap band - i felt like a nameless face in the crowd. Not a warm fuzzy at all. I have to go back for another endoscope in April because Dr. Mac found a nasty ulcer on my first one. I'm still not sure how I could have an ulcer and not know it.  I too can't find any pictures that show the real me - I realize that I've usually been the family photographer. Can't wait to get to know you better along this journey.

Good luck with the insurance hoops.  I am so glad I don't have to do the 6 month pre-op diet.  I would , though, if required.  I think all this work pre-surgery is going to pay off. I'm sorry about your ulcer.  I haven't started all the pre-op testing, but I've been stressing about what they might find.  Good luck with the endoscopey. Amanda

I have the pic loaded on my page, I just wanted to make it the default.  I have my first endoscopy tomorrow morning. I am a little nervous but one step closer. I myself am glad that I do not have to do the pre diet. I believe if I had to, I could.  Thank you all for your warm welcomes, it means a lot to have people like you around with inspiring words. Im glad that we have each other!!

I worked with Dr. MacDonald at Southern Surgical also and the entire process was great. I have BCBS NC-- I work for ECU -- and they approvals were almost instant! I finished all of my preop and went for my meeting with Dr. Mac and they scheduled the surgery that day! It was so quick that he could squeeze me in four days later, but I chose to stick it out for various reasons and wait another week-- anyway, the entire process- education class to surgery- was approximately four months; just as they said! We have a support group in the lobby of the SS office the first Wednesday of every month. We'd love to have both of you join us! We have people just starting, thinking about it, about to have it, just had it and people that are YEARS out from it-- a diverse group! There are psychologists, nutritionists and other helpful people that come to speak to us each month. It's a great time to network and talk to people that are going/or have gone through what you have! Anyway, welcome to the board (both of you) and I look forward to seeing you through this amazing journey!!!
