Hi, My name is Melissa and Im new to the group.  I have my first appt. scheduled for March 20th with Dr. Bauman in concord.  I'm a little nervous but I feel Im ready for this step.  My question is if you had it to do over again would you?  What are some things you would do differently if any?

Hi!!  I am  in the process of getting Lap-band, and the wait is killing me.  Dr. Bauman and his staff are so nice, I am trying to learn to be patient.  If you have any newbie questions please let me know.  Hopefully, WE will be on the LOSERS BENCH soon...

Melissa -

I have to say that I would ABSOLUTELY, WITHOUT a DOUBT do it again!!!! While I wouldn't want to try to get someone else to do it, I am sooooooo verrrryyyyyy glad that I did. The only reason I wouldn't try to "get someone else to do it" is that I think you have to come to this on your own. Someone else may introduce you to it, but it is your life and your decision. That said ... This is hands down the very best thing I have ever done for myself.

My Diabetes is resolved

My Sleep Apnea is resolved

I have more energy and endurance than I have had in decades!

I honestly feel more beautiful than I ever have as an adult.

I only wish I had done this when I was much younger, but that's water under the bridge and I'm glad that it's done.

My husband is in the process of getting approval to have the surgery himself. I'm delighted for him. I believe it will change his life for the better in so many ways.

I don't think that there is a lot that I would do differently. I have the support of friends and family. I have the support of my medical team. I have this wonderful group of friends I've made on OH that have been an incredible support system. I attend support groups from my program and others that are being held in my area. I see a counselor about my issues with food ... I don't want to end up where I was ... and I have started a program called the "Beck Diet Solution" by Judith Beck ... It's a workbook and book that I would strongly recommend to anyone.

I'm wishing you every success in your journey to the healthiest you that you can be.

Barb

Thanks for the replies, you all seem to be a great support group for each other.  I look forward to getting to know everyone a little better.

In a word ~~~~~  YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree with Barb ~ I would never tell someone else what they should or shouldn't do as this is a very personal choice and we all have our own reasons for doing it, but I will say that I too wish I had done it sooner and I have no regrets whatsoever!!!  I've lost 112 lbs so far and I've never felt better.  No more high blood pressure, cholesterol is perfect and I don't snore anymore!!!  I've got some saggy skin but hey, I can certainly live with that.   Clothes shopping is so much fun now!!  My boyfriend tells me I'm like a kid in a candy store when we go shopping!!  I am a much happier, healthier and more vibrant person now than I have ever been!!! Good luck to you!!! Hugs, Donna

Not just yes for me... but HECK YES!  I have never felt better or looked better.  My knees no longer hurt.. my back don't ache..  I can breathe much better and I sleep LOTS better.  I would not take that 140 pounds back for all the money in the world!

Heck yeah!  In a New York minute! I wouldn't do much differently, except I think that I would take better advantage of the post op support groups in my area.  I think I would also see my Nut a few times post operatively, after about 3 months out. Take care and good luck with your journey. Ellen

Hey!  First of all welcome and good luck.  Oh yeah.  I would do it again.  It was not bad at all.  The only thing I would do different is stay at home from work one more week and relax.  hahaha  Honestly it was not bad.  I have had no complications.
