Ok I want to know what to tell people when they ask me how much weight I have lost. What do you do? From Highest weight .....90lbs......My highest weight was 334(OK I admited it) First Dr. visit  ......63lbs since surgery... 40lbs What do they want to know?  A lot of people are  curious and I don't mind bragging but I don't want to complicate this. I guess I already have. My 2 month Nut visit is tomorrow.  I feel great except the constipation I occationaly have. I need to exercise more but my job is pretty physical and I am so tired at the end of the day. I know.....Just DO IT! Good Luck to all Myrtis

Myrtis, You're doing great!  I know that took courage. You can tell them as much or as little as you want.  From "some" to "a lot" to exact pounds, to whatever makes you feel the most comfortable.  For those who know about your surgery you can tell them since the surgery.  For those who don't know about it and you don't want them to know, you can tell them from your highest weight.  Or you can ask them "Since when?  I have been working on losing weight for some time now..."  This is about your comfort level, not anyone else's! Congratulations!

I agree with Suzanne, you do what you are comfortable with.  I count my total weight loss, but I didn't lose much before surgery.  You're doing great!  Keep up the great work, Alice

I tell people my total!  If the pounds are gone, they are lost!!!  You should get credit whether or not you lost it before surgery or after.  You are doing great!!!  Keep up the good work! Andrea

Hey Myrtis!  90 pounds???  AWESOME!  You seriously need to update your avatar!!! I tell people what my total loss is...  I hate it when they say "Well, what do you weigh now?"... NONE OF YOUR FREAKIN' BUSINESS!  LOL You tell what you want.  This is your journey, not theirs!

WoW Myrtis!!!

Congratulations on single pound lost ... pre and post surgery!!! As our friend Suzanne so eloquently put it, you should share what is comfortable for to you share. You own the loss of each and every lb. What you share about that loss is a personal decision and of course completely up to you.

I normally tell people my total loss if they ask. I rarely share my actual weight, but often do so with other WLS patients. To be quite honest, most people are very surprised when the realize just how much I do weigh. They tend to think I weigh less than I do ... but, I guess that shouldn't be surprising ... Most folks have always thought I weighed less than I do. Must be those "big" bones ... LOL.

Like you, I used to have more issues with constipation. That seems to resolve itself largely as you broaden your foods, adding more fiber to your diet.

Congratulations!!!!!! And keep up the good work.

Myrtis,  I use my highest known weight, which was the weight from my consult with Dr. Bauman.  I was 297 on that date and as of yesterday was 160, so 137 pounds lost.  I was using my one-week preop visit weight (291), but then realized that Diane (the nutritionist in his office) was actually using the 297, so I use this one to keep in tune with what she's calculating.
