I'm sure these feelings are normal, but here goes...
I feel pretty darn good considering what my body has been through this past week. (Besides being bruised like a ripe banana!!) I do have concerns which, I'm sure, are normal but I want to share them anyway.
My nutrition's information says while doing my full liquids I should be consuming 2-3 oz at a time for my feeding. Since yesterday I have been doing 4-6 oz at a time with no restriction at all. Same with water. I haven't guzzled but I can get in a considerable amount of water, which is good, I suppose. But where are the unpleasant feelings? I do feel full & satisfied, but...
Don't get me wrong, I really don't want to throw up or dump. I just can't help but think "Maybe he made my pouch too big." That's normal right? I mean, just because I am doing well with no negative reaction doesn't mean a thing, right?
Oy! This is a whole new world for me. I just can't help thinking I should be feeling something uncomfortable. Well, besides the burping. LOL
Thanks,
xoxo

I felt the same way for weeks after surgery. Unfortunately, I found out the hard way about 2 weeks ago that there definitely is a pouch and that it beyond hurts when you over do it. The first several weeks I did so good that my co-workers were teasing me that I had "placebo" surgery. Don't get me wrong, I haven't had any complications and I feel great but one morning I did take in too much in too short a time which definitely taught me a lesson.
Mare, you are OK. It is my unoffical opinion tha****er and liquid go through the pouch fairly quick. I can take to large of a swallow of water even now and have a brief discomfort. But sometimes even 2 oz of solid food eaten to quick is painful and it last a pretty long time. When you get on soft food yogart etc. please measure. We don't wont discomfort and we don't wont to stretch our pouch. I have found yogart ozes through my pouch faster and the nut said I can have 3 oz of it. Just use the measuring cup and write down all that enters your body. Hope this helps. You are doing great!

Right now on clear liquids, that is perfectly normal. And of course it is even more normal to think that the surgery isn't going to work for you. You will have that feeling more than once. Don't worry, sweetie, it will--it IS-- work for you! The clear liquids go right through you. I think that restriction at this time is to get you into good habits. You will auto restrict when you pouch is full, don't worry! And no, he didn't give you a bigger pouch because you are taller than me! LOL
I've been having these same feelings Mare. I was told to spend an hour drinking 2ozs. However, I can drink that 2ozs in 15 minutes. I've just been sipping and not measuring really. I've been pouring 12ozs in my thermos cup and drinking on it - and I do that about 3 times a day.
I've been waiting for feelings of uncomfort or fullness and haven't had either. I haven't been hungry either.
I'm glad to know we are "normal" Mare. :)

((((Mare)))),
Go read my profile! We all go through that "OMG, I'm the one it's not going to work for ..." feelings. It will work. It is working. Some of us feel the restriction very early, some feel it a little later, but don't worry ... it's there and you will feel it. Remember that a lot of nerve endings where cut during the surgery, so you may not "feel" it as much now as you will in a few weeks.
Just keep doing what your Doc tells you to ... You'll be borrowing that pink paisley top in no time!
Love you,
Barb
