HELP !!!..........HELP!!!!

Good Morning,   I woke up this morning with a very upset  tummy. I have not tried anything new...the same meals, drinks, and snacks as everything. But this morning I woke up with a very upset tummy and have been living in my  bathroom for the past few hours.   I have been trying to really drink ...drink ....drink...water so that I dont get dehydrated. This has never happened to me before.   Since this has never happened to me I wondering if it's ok to take pepto. I paged my surgeon...but no one has called me back yet....so I'm turning to my friends here.  IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS PLEASE SHARE THEM WITH ME ...I WOULD BE VERY GREATFUL. You're a week out of surgery, right?  Not too sure what your symptoms are...  Are you vomiting?  Or do you have diarrhea or both?  I would definitely call the surgeon back and keep pestering them until you get a reply.  If you don't get a reply and if you are still vomiting, get yourself to the ER.  Better to be safe than sorry.  I wouldn't take any pepto unless it is prescribed.  It has aspirin derivatives (salicylates) and can enhance bleeding and cause irritation to tissues.  Also it might disguise any symptoms that might aid in figuring out what is going on.  You might need IV fluids to prevent dehydration if you can't keep oral fluids down. Sorry you're having this distress, and I am not trying to scare you, just want you to be safe and in good health.  Please keep us posted.

I would call your doctor and let them know what is going on since you are so fresh out of the hospital. And yes please keep drinking water so you do not get dehydrated. I hope you feel better!!

THANKS EVERYONE....THE SURGEON ON CALL .....FINALLY CALLED ME BACK. BY THE TIME HE CALLED ME BACK ALL THE PROBLEMS FINALLY PASSED. BUT WE DID SPEAK ABOUT SOME THINGS THAT I COULD DO. .....SO IT'S 615 PM AND I CAN SAY THAT I AM FEELING ALOT BETTER. To answer your question anyways - we arnt suppose to take pepto but in a pinch it wont hurt - one, two or three times of using it wont cause any issues. As a side note the pepto can make your tongue turn a funny color and your poop look like mudd (color and/or consistancy)
