6 more days to surgery and i am nervous
Hi Pam! It's perfectly normal to be nervous at this stage. After all, you are taking a life-changing step! And of course you are excited! You are probably feeling hope you haven't felt in a long time! None of came in here on a winning streak and of course, we all feel like winners now (because we are losers?) It's a topsy-turvy world full of blessings that we cannot even imagine! You are in my prayers. Please keep sharing with us. A blessing shared is doubled. A burden shared is cut in half.
Thanks so much....your support means a lot! I work with a great group of people who have all been there for me to to help. Some have even done the liquid diet while at work to offer support and of course, lose a few lbs at the same time. I am truly blessed ! It is nice to chat with ppl who have already been there.
Thanks again, Pam

As Suzanne said, it's perfectly normal to be nervous! Think of how abnormal it would be NOT to be nervous about making a commitment to changing your life around like this! It's kind-of, sort-of like a marriage: you're making a lifelong commitment to form a partnership with a new body -- for richer and poorer, through thick and THIN!!
I'm a newbie here, but already I can attest to what wonderful resources this community offers. Any questions, they'll answer. Any doubts, they'll help you work through. Any victories and challenges, we'll be here for you!
Losing 10 pounds presurgery demonstrates your commitment and sticktoitiveness to do your best as a partner with your surgeon through this process even when you're feeling nervous and a little scared. By losing before surgery, you're getting your body to the optimum point for the RNY, and that shows gumption.
The range of emotions and personality traits it takes to take this step is sort of like a Twister spinner: spin the arrow and watch it land on "gumptionacious," "courageous," "terrified," "thrilled," "anxious," "elated," etc. That's all perfectly normal. It is what it is, no? (So, ok, I made "gumptionacious" up, but it really should be a word already, if you ask me.)
(((( Go, Pam! ))))
Best wishes,
Kim
Well, whatever you're doing, it's working! You've already lost 10 pounds, and your "loser" coworkers are undoubtedly thrilled to be able to be part of your support community by sharing the challenge of a liquid diet as you move toward your surgery date. I think that's just so awesome and adorable. I actually said, "Awwwwwwwwwwwwww," out loud when I read that they're dieting with you.
You're an agent of change in their lives as you make a change in yours. Wow. That's just ... well ... wow.
We can be pals I am going in on the 21st for surgery but in Mexico and I must be completely numb about it as I am not nervous yet. I think that it isn't real to me yet, if that makes any sense. You are doing great with the CIB , I acutally like it ,ordered in bulk online so I could get variety pack with strawberry Yummy LOL. This is going to be the best thing you ever did for yourself .

I thought I was all calm and reasonable before my surgery, but the weekend beforehand, someone mentioned to me, "You know, you might want to think about giving a name to that suddenly surly self that's making itself known lately."
Once I got over the shock of being called out, I came up with "Bothra": a combination of [rhymes with "witch"] + Mothra, a giant Godzilla-like moth monster from Japanese horror movies.
