I'm in medical / surgical review as of today. I talked to Duke and they said my chart could stay in review for 10-15 business days, THEN it will be sent to insurance which will take another 10-15 business days. I am so tired of waiting sooo long. I was hoping I would have the  surgery in March but looks like as long as it is  taking to do things that may not be so. I know everybody has to wait like this but its getting me so down and unmotivated. .....well i just got off the phone with them and nobody is here and i guess i  just wanted to complain!..(o.k. got to look at he positive side).and also share my good news that things are finely coming together...LOL...~Mary~

What a perfect mantra!  Sometimes I swear coming here and reading what y'all write is downright providential.

mary,     You might be from the Duke board i don't know. I think them saying 10-15 is just standard. It's been running 5 to 7 on med surg review i think. Call in a couple of days and you will probably find that Phys is the one they are waiting on and then once you asked then it will be out of review in about two days. I don't know what insurance you have. But BCBSNC got my paperwork from Beth at 4:00 pm on a Friday and Monday at 12:15 I was approved. Each case is different but i think they have been ahead of schedule lately with the new surgeon and new nurse practioner. hang in there. I have surgery March 7th with Dr. Porteiner also. Ken

Turn waiting into a positive thing - start working on modifying some of your eating - cut back on regular sodas, sugar, fats, fried/fast foods - Im not saying go cold turkey but at least work on cutting some out! Work on making exercise a part of your daily life... even if you start out small - walking 20 minutes just 3 times a week... it will do wonders for you post-op. The better shape you can be in for the surgery the easier it will be on you... and you can get a head start on developing the healthy habits!

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)
