Moving back to NC

I would have preferred not going "public" with this statement, but feel not to say what happened to me would be doing more people a disservice than to keep my experiences to myself.  I WAS in the "care" of Dr Miles for a period of time, so my opinions are based on my personal experiences, not on any other hearsay factors.  In my opinion, Dr Miles came very close to killing me while I was in his care.  Even the hospital staff expressed their anger and concern over his lack of attention to treating my medical needs while I was in his alleged care.  I was interviewed by the head of nursing at New Hanover because the nurses who were assigned to me were concerned about how he seemed more focused on protecting himself from any legal complications than he was on providing me with good medical care and they had reported their concerns to the head of nursing.  Since I have not yet ruled out the possibility of a malpractice suit, I am not going to pursue this thread in any more detail.  Suffice it to say that I did not make a frivolous assessment of Dr Miles' abilities, but suffered from his treatment while I was in his care to the extent that my life was in jeopardy.  We are all free to make our own choices.  When I originally posted on this thread, it was in reply to the author's inquiry, not as a personal attack of your choice. As for the NC forum, it is, like any other forum here, an OPEN forum where members are free to express their opinions and to share their experience, strength, and hope.  I have learned to take what I can use and to leave the rest in the hopes that it may be of assistance to someone else.  One person's trash is another's treasure...  Those who are unable to detach themselves from taking personal offense from any statements made here that are not aligned with their own beliefs are going to have a tough time benefiting from the great wealth of love and support that this forum has to offer. I wish you well in your surgery and in your life and hope you find what you are looking for.

Yes, I think you are being too thin skinned and oversensitive, but I would back up my doctor also if I was defending him.  If you noticed, the question asked (by another person) for any good Dr's in the area.  I gave her one that I would recommend and one I would not, and the reasons backing up my thoughts.  This board is to help other people, and by me telling her to check the stats. on a certain Dr. gets you upset.......I just don't get that.  It's just called "being aware and educated". Well when you put the words DIE in a post I believe that influences people in their decissions. Yes this is to help people but did you bother to tell her that you personally hadnt had any experience with Dr. Miles and did you know that he has not had anyone to die that he has preformed the operation on. He is also a center of excellence and I believe they have pretty high standards. I just think  people should be biased in their posts. You could have said that yes Dr. Miles is a surgeon and also their is Dr. Harris. I don't believe it is proper to condem someone you have never had any dealings with. I really thought that I would like this forum since it was in my home state. BUT I swear this post makes me want to hurl!  I have made better friends and had more info from the main form. Its a shame that in NC I cant seem to get any respect. I believe if Dr. Miles was such a bad doctor he wouldnt be still practicing. They have laws against that. And as for being aware and educated how can they when people keep providing false information. Let people do their own research I think you should just rpovide names and not opinions. But then again I guess its just like they say about opinions.. they are like lower region body parts! Yours works for you mine works for me!

Momto3boyz - Please don't let this post poison your view of the NC board. You will come to find many friends here. I let some of the pettiness on this board bother me a few months ago and left for awhile. I'm back and will just ignore the comments I do not like, I totally understand where you are coming from! Thanks for the words of encouragement. I wasn't trying to be rude or hateful I just think this is a big decision in someone's life and I know I for one dont want to have to read negative comments about a doctor who is getting ready to perform surgery on me. I have had my share of bad experiences with doctors but I never spoke bad about them to anyone.They after all are people. THEY make mistakes too. No one is perfect! Hi Nancy - Glad to be back since Oct, it's nice of you to notice. My surgery is coming up and I really need the support from such a wonderful group of ladies.  Name change? Not really sure why I changed it. When I left the site a few months ago I deleted my account so I just chose another name. I kept my avatar the same and had my signature in glitter too. I thought that this would help people recognize me. Didn't you recognize me? I've had a lot of PMs from people welcoming me back who knew who I was. Oh well, I wont take it personally, LOL! I need to post an updated photo..since I've GAINED weight and got my hair cut shorter...arg! Great job on your weight loss, almost to goal! You must be ecstati****ep up the good work!

I'm sure every Doctor has had a bad experience with one or more of their patients. The subject we all deal with is very sensitive. All we can do is research the Doctor and the facilities and do take into account the statistics for any kind of setbacks. When you post opinions of any kind, not everyone will agree. I'm a man and there isn't to many that come on the N.C. forum, and what I'm trying to say is that i have found a whole lot of great conversation on this site. Hell i even enjoy the women talking about clothes, i just have to change the facts around so i can understand it. Now being a man i stayed clear of the Nascar Post. Even though Jeff Gordon is the best ( ha, ha) If you had made your choice in a surgeon, believe with all your heart that you made the best choice for you, it doesn't matter what i think, Nancy down the road, or for that matter jeff Gordon. The main goal is to lose weight , to feel better, and get your life back. Let's all get along. later, Ken
