You will also find some like me who have lost most of the weight are are moving into maintenance. Beyond that there will be some "old timer's" who have a coupld of years or more experience under their belts. We all have a lot to offer; whether we are just starting out like you are or have been there for a while. I look forward to hearing of your experiences, your questions and your points of view.

Please know that this is a very supportive group and you there is no such thing as a stupid question. So ... If you have a question, fire away ... chances are, that others will either know the answer or be delighted that you've asked the question.

I noticed that you have your surgery scheduled soon. I look forward to getting to know you as you travel this amazing road to a healthier you.

Thank you both for your replies. I am ready to change my life. Scared but ready. I started my high proten low carb stuff today I sure hope I can do this for the next 2 wks. I have very little will power but I keep thinking about the end result. Hope you have a great day and good luck tomorrow with your surgery.

Don't worry, Melissa. After about 2 days of the low carb/high protein diet your cravings for the carbs will subside. I have lost 40+ lbs doing the low carb thing. Your 2 weeks will be a breeze! Best of luck to you. xoxo Mare  Thumbs Up

Welcome, Melissa!! I'm fairly new, too ... just had my Lap Band surgery less than three weeks ago.  This truly is a wonderful forum, and I'm sure you'll find inspirational support here.   I'm still scared sometimes -- but a visit here does a lot to reassure me and know that many have traveled the road before I have and know the way!   Good luck on your upcoming surgery, and with the low-carb/high-protein diet beforehand.  We'll see you in the neighborhood here! Congrats and welcome!!!!!! How long did it take from the time you started this journey until you got your surgery date?  I have my first appt with the surgeon on March 7th so my process is a little slow (or so it seems)!  Good luck and keep us posted! Tammy J.

Hi Melissa!  Welcome to the NC Forum!  You have found a great group of people here, and we're glad you did! Good luck on your low-carb diet.  I just kept telling myself that the more successful I was on the low-carb diet, the better shape my liver would be in and the easier my surgery would be.  Keep your focus on the goal, that will help you stick with it.
