Has anyone experienced this?

First off.. Good morning to everyone....  I was wondering if anyone has experienced having a slow weight loss due to losing a good amount pre surgery?   I lost 60 pounds just prior to surgery and I am now 10 months out and my post surgery weight loss is approx. 93.5 pounds...  Dr. Chapman is ok with the amount but he said I should be 10-25 pounds further along than I am....  I know we all lose at different rates but it seems that my loss is slower and I was wondering if my pre loss could possibly be a factor for the slow loss...  I have been following the rules for eating and walking, etc. as much as I possibly can... Hopefully, in the near future, I will be meeting with a dietitian to review and revamp my diet and exercise...  Just feeling a little  today...  Hope everyone is having a great day and getting lighter as each day passes....

I decided early out it didnt matter when I reached goal... just that I reached it.  My surgeon told me what to expect when it came to weightloss for his patients 10-15lbs a month the first 6, 5lbs a month after that... I never had 'impressive numbers' and my first 6 months average was under 10lbs... every time I had a visit I was always told how excellent I was doing and to keep up the great work :-)  I walked into the surgeons office weighing 288lbs, by the day of surgery I was 232lbs... so 56lbs down... my goal was 150-160, so I picked 155... so that left me with 77lbs to lose. It took me 1.4 years to hit 155lbs... that would put my entire average at 5lbs a month. My issue was never losing the weight but being able to keep it off - thats really why I wanted this surgery. Honestly the time zipped by - its still hard to believe I am where I am at now and that I am almost 1.8 years out from surgery - just seems like I started this process!

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Please don't feel down.  I use to compare my numbers to others and I would worry too.  However, I now feel like any amount lost is a step in the right direction.  My surgeon actually prefers people to lose slowly.  He told me that people that lose more slowly usually do not have as many skin issues (if exercising appropriately) and usually keep it off better too.  So in my opinion, you are doing great.  So chin up, and be so thankful and happy of what you have achieved thus far!!!!!! Go****hink you are doing great!  Let's face it, everyone is different and those of us with less to lose in the first place are going to lose less than our teammates who have more to lose.  So I try to remember that and not to compare.  Age makes a difference too, I think.  Also activity levels and metabolic rates.  For instance I know I could lose weight a whole lot faster if I started to smoke again.  But after not smoking for about 20 years, I am not about to pick up those nasty things again!  So we do what we can do, and feel grateful for what we can achieve.  I do know I have never spent this much time CONSISTENTLY losing weight!  I may not have lost as much weight at 6 months than others but I am doing what I can and I feel good about it!  You should too!
