waiting on approval from UHC
I had my second visit with the surgeon just to be told we are now submitting you info to the insurance co...I was upset because I thought I would at least get a date. Does anyone have experience with UHC? if so how long did it take for approval. I'm seeking the lap band, my BMI is 48 and I have no comorbidities.....

I have UHC Ins. I got approved in 2 days after they recieved the paper work. I assume it depends on your employer and what the have written in the policy that they have to follow!

I have experience with UHC but you don't want to hear it...TRUST me! You will get your approval and be on your way on no time flat.

First visit with surgeon 2/07-383lbs Day of surgery 2/08-336lbs Current-226lbs
It took about a month to be approved from UHC for me. It was a long month but I called a couple times to check the status of it and that seemed to pu**** through faster. On the first call they said they were just starting to review it and I got impatient but not nasty. By the second call two weeks later I was approved. Sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease or maybe it was just coincedental.

Once the received the information - it was less than a week for my approval. I never even had to talk with them, the doctor handled everything - My BMI was 41 with no comorbidities - I had Gastric Bypass and not the lapband. I don't think you will have a problem.
