Well I've made it to the loser's bench!!!! I had surgery 1/31 and had my followup yesterday. I have lost 7lbs since surgery so a total of 13lbs from my preop visit. I am very excited and glad to be on this journey. Everything is going pretty well. My drain site is still draining, but should close up in the next few days. My only complaint is trapped gas/fluid in my right shoulder that is very painful, but this too should go away soon. I'm surprised at how much energy I have and I've been walking...walking...walking. The Doc has given me the go ahead to start eating and I wanted to know some good ideas for the beginning stages.

I've got all the food guides of what i can have. Starting with full liquids, then mush/puree. Just thought you guys might know some secrets! The protein powder is pretty yucky, so when I do eat I want something tasty.

Congratualtions! And welcome to the Loser's Bench!!

I know that the gas from a lap procedure can be really uncomfortable, but you are doing the right things. Keep moving. It will get the gas to disapate soon.

I look forward to hearing of your journey and hope to be able to meet you in person soon. As a matter of a fact, if you are interested we are having our monthly get together at Perkins in about 10 days. It would be great to have to opportunity to say hello. If you want information about the get together, go to http://wls.meetup.com/101

Again, all the best in your journey to a healthier you!

Glad to see you on the bench with the rest of us. Do you have a NUT you can talk to about what foods you should have and not have? I was on liquids for about 3 weeks after surgery when I left the hospital I was on full liquids which was boost and cream soups ect.. Go slow and dont pu**** always do what they tell you.                                      Annie

It is never too late to be what you might have been.?

(((( congratulastidiciadociousness! )))) What great news! I'm a week ahead of you -- my surgery was the 25th.  It's awesome to move a little beyond just healing up from surgery to getting started on the system reboot of new ways of eating, living, moving.  How fantastic to be walking, walking, walking, no?  And in this fine weather! Smoochlets and continued success wishes.

Congratulations!  And welcome!  You have quite a journey ahead of you!  I would check with my nut or dr for guidelines on what to eat.  Every surgeon is different, it seems.
