Please Help!
Hey Bobbie,
I'm one of Dr. Chapman's patients and am 3 1/2 months post op. My understanding of our diet is we are basically eating nothing much but protein until the 3 month mark. Then you eat 90% protein and 10% other stuff. I have tried to follow the plan closely and I've had very few problems and those were because I ate too fast. I Have the entire set of instructions if you want them, PM me with your email address and I'll send it to you.
I have read several books over the past 6 months and many times I read that rice and pasta were not recommended because they continue to swell in the pouch. I have eaten some mashed potatoes, baked potatoe, green beans, and a couple pieces of brocolli but only after I've eaten my protein. I even ate 3 cherry tomatoes with no problems.
The protein is so important for healing and to keep from losing muscle; it also helps you feel full longer and keeps the hair loss from getting too bad.
Good luck! Alice

As for the nutritionist issue, she said we were welcome to come to any of the monthly classes but that if we had questions, we could call her office and talk with her. I haven't done that but I may try to go to one of the monthly classes.

Hi Bobbie,
I think Wendy's advice is spot on. I am almost 4 weeks out and I am mainly eating protein. Here is what I mostly consume:
Meatloaf
Cottage Cheese
Eggs
Shrimp
FF Refried Beans
Lowfat Cheese and Yogurt
Kashki High Protein Oatmeal
The only thing that has really caused me great pain is tuna salad, which I probably ate too much too soon, but regardless, I will be staying away from tuna for some time.
Hope this helps!
Marie
