I taped it this morning and watched it a few minutes ago. Not sure that fellow is ready to do what it takes.  He kept saying "I've been told my only option to live is gastric bypass."  He's been turned down 7 times because he's too high a risk...

The psychologist jumped in at one point and said she just couldn't sit there one more minute and not speak... but that he (and anybody) HAS to know that eating 5000 calories a day while spending 95% of his time in bed was accomplishing nothing.   Dr. Phil offered a Team of help to which he agreed, but Dr. Phil also let him know he would be watched like a HAWK... that he was willing to help him lose what he needs to in order to be a WLS candidate. Not so sure this fellow has the umph! and fortitude it's going to take... it's sad.  I found myself sitting in my chair saying a prayer for that fellow during the commercial. There's also a gal on there who Dr. Phil is giving surgery to for all her massive excess skin.  At least they didn't "dis" WLS.  Even Dr. Phil said he has a nephew that has had it.  He did hit on the man's wife pretty hard because she is a HUGE enabler to his problem.  She's the one who prepares and feeds him 5000 calories a day... it showed boxes of Moon Pies and he eats many of those each day. I also was happy to see that the docs there and Dr. Phil addressed the fact of folks who say having WLS is "taking the easy way out."  They all agreed that there is NOTHING "easy" about this surgery.  Overall, it was a very positive discussion about WLS. Oh, I agree.  I am so glad that they addressed the "easy way out" first and didn't "dis" surgery.  I think he has come to terms that he does have a problem and realizes he has to do something, but I don't see the willpower.  I would have liked to see camera's in the home to watch him/her and would have liked Dr. Phil to make her commit to not giving in to his weakness and make her promise to make better choices for him and be held accountable for that.  I did cry some because I know he feels bad about not being able to be a more active father. I registered so I can post on Dr. Phil's forum there about this show, and just posted to a gal... but it says it might take a few hours for it to show up.

Some folks are being BRUTALLY harsh to that fellow on that forum (much of it deserved).

WOW, Update:  My posts are there in less than 5 minutes after making them!  I hope my words and encouragement will help some desparate folks over there.
