Myrtis, Do you hear yourself?  Is 29 pounds a good weight loss in 6 weeks?  That's almost 5 pounds a week!  Yes, that's fabulous!!!  You should be mega-proud of yourself!  I think we get so used to seeing people that have lost 100+ pounds, that we start thinking that should happen almost immediately.  I wouldn't be concerned if I were you, I think you're doing great.   Glad to hear your energy is up, and enjoy those soft foods!!!  :)

Myrtis -

You are doing a wonderful job. I truly think I understand your question ... It's not that you feel you are in a race with anyone else, but you want to be sure that you are making the most of this window of opportunity and comparing our weight loss to others seems to be the only measure. But I have some good news for you. I want you to go to www.thinnerself.com. It's a website created by a fellow WLS patient. You can go to the weights and measures charts and plug in your surgery date, surgery weight, current weight, current date, age, height, sex and activity level then it will calculate the percentage of excess weight you are likely to lose if you continue as you are. Remember that we normally will lose somewhere between 60 and 80% of our excess weight. I used to worry constantly that I wasn't doing well until I found this site and saw that I was doing great based on my age, height, weight, etc...

Go give it a try and sigh a deep breath of relief!

Hugs,

Barb

Congratulations.  You are right about where I am.  I have lost 32.  I am 6 weeks post op too.  We are doing just fine.  It will come off a little at a time.  As long as we see the #'s going down we can be happy.  Keep up the good work.
