Hey - why don't we start 2008 with a conversation about when and where and what for an all state get together?  I can't take on the coordination roll, but will sure help. So - let's get the conversation going -  Dates:  Any ideas?  - any dates in February look good? Where:  Somewhere in the middle of the state makes sense to me, I think.  Any other thoughts?

What:  Lunch on a Saturday?  -  A shopping trip?  - An activity of some sort? - A covered dish kind of thing?

Sounds like a good idea to me too Robin. At our Christmas party I noticed there was plenty of food left over so maybe if we meet and bring pot luck we need to bring less food. I think someone mentioned having soup or chowder. I can do any kind of soup my pouch loves it.                                                 Annie

Hi Annie - good point about the food!   It's cold enough right now that soup sounds mahvelous!

Hey Robin -

I'm wondering about trying to do something at the beach in Apr. The rates are low and it might be a nice way to spend a week-end or a day depending on what works best for folks.

I was wondering if we do something that might cover a week-end, if doing a series of things might work ... i.e., Goodwill Hunting, Portrait sessions to document the new us ... we can find an inexpensive place that might be willing to handle a bunch of us, one after the other, a pot luck, a clothing exchange ...

I'd love to get ideas for locations and dates from others ... I hope you get a lot of response to your post.

I'm also wondering if we might want to do something different times of the year ... one in the spring, one in the summer, one in the fall.

When you were thinking of the middle of the state, did you have any particular locations in mind?

I'm excited just thinking about it!

Barb

OOhh - a weekend at the beach - are you in my head or something?  I love the ocean.   I like the idea of something quarterly if it works out.   And doing a whole weekend would mean folks who couldn't be there for the whole thing could be there for some.   I thought the middle of the state so that it was equally easy ( or difficult) for all to get to.  Somewhere like Greensboro, Asheboro, etc.  That was just an off the cuff thought tho.  If we do something three or four times a year, we could move it around.

I think somewhere centrally located is a great idea ... I'm a transplant from CA, so I have to admit to being somewhat geographically challenged when it comes to NC ... I'll bet that there are a number of areas that would be great for a visit, I just need some "education." ;-)

As you mentioned, I thought trying to do a week-end thing might give folks more opportunity to get "there" ... where ever there might be and those who could/wanted to stay awhilel could and those who just wanted to pop in could do that too.

I like the weekend idea.. but I would have to bring a kid with me.  LOL  Let's keep the conversation going.  If push came to shove, I could always just pop in for the day.

I would love to organize something like this. I am a realtor adn all we ever do is organize things. Someone mentioned a beach Idea in April when it's cheaper , maybe rent a big house and get familes involved , or just a girly weekend. Maybe a revolving monthly activty...Goodwill Hunting and DInner , one weeknd Raliegh, One Charlotte, One Greensboro and so forth

I happily turn over all organizing to anyone who wants it.  I know Barbara and Jennifer H both mentioned that they like to organize too.   Maybe you three should come up with some kind of rotating thingy or something.  I'm not the organizer, just the instigator!

That sounds like a plan. I have a condo at Pebble Beach, Emerald Isle and there is a big indoor heated pool, a gym, and a beautiful boardwalk to the beach. Emerald Isle is great because Swansboro is so close and that is such a great little town with great sound front resturants and stores- I guess I am partial but I love it!!! It would be wonderful to get together at the beach!!! Looking forward to hearing how everyone feels!!
