Do you "rent"?

Yesterday I stopped by my local GW and decided to check to see about "renting" some "new" pants. I don't keep things all that long lately, so when I go in I often bring things back to donate, so I told one of the ladies there that I "rent" their clothes for a while. She gets a hoot out of it.

Believe it or not, my size 10 Lee jeans were kind of baggy ... who would have ever thought?! At any rate, I gathered up a few pair of jeans and went and tried 'em on. They all "fit", but nothing fit right. When I went to hang 'em up, I found a beautiful pair of Ann Taylor black cords and decided to try 'em. The fit just right! I didn't even take 'em off. I wore them up to the counter, paid for them and will be giving them the 10's.

I also saw someone from my neighborhood that I haven't seen for a while and she didn't recognize me. That's really wild. Once I "introduced" myself, she said she could hear my voice and see my eyes, but I hardly looked like the same woman. That was nice.

I may go see about renting a few more pair of 8's. ... wondering when the renting will end and the buying will begin?

Do you have a favorite place to "rent" clothes from?

Here in Rocky Mount we have a GW store and a Salvation Army.  They have been getting bag loads from me lately.  I have yet to find anything appropriate for work clothes so I have not purchased anything.  We have two consignment shops nearby that I need to check out.   I just went to "Old Navy" Saturday and they were having a "SALE".  I found fleece tops that they were advertising for $10 but when I took them to the register they rang up as $7.00.   I went back for more.  I have been so cold that I am dressing in layers and they were just perfect.

Hey Paula -

Sounds like you made a killing on the fleece tops at Old Navy ... I just love it when something like that happens :-)

I truly understand what you mean about needing to dress in layers. I've always been "warm natured" and "fluffy" ... now, that I'm not so "fluffy", I've gotten to where I get cold much easier. Must be something to that "natural insulation".

Enjoy your new tops. It sounds like others will be enjoying the benefit of your weight loss.

Have a wonderful day.

Hey Darcie -

Great to hear from you. I'm sorry we missed you at the Holiday Soiree, but I know that Mexico trip was a lot more fun and work has to come in at some point.

I'll be you'll be into 10's in no time at the rate you are going.

I hope that you are having a lovely holiday season.

All the best,

Barb

I am suddenly a GW junkie!  You have to be willing to go through a lot of clothes to find the good things, but it's worth it!  I just can't see paying full price for things I'll only be able to wear for a little while.  I just love the "renting" analogy Barb!  :) Very clever! I'm leaving for Wisconsin Thursday morning and tried all of my warm winter coats on last night.  Yikes!  I'm swimming in them!  I can wear them, and I guess it's better than freezing, but they look terrible, and now that I'm actually starting to feel good about the way things look, I want a coat to fit me too!  Just can't see spending $100 for a coat that I'll only be able to wear for a few weeks.  I've looked at GW, but haven't found anything.  So, I'm keeping my eyes open for a great sale on coats.

OK...update to my coat problem.  I stopped in at Ross today and got a new winter coat for $15!  It's not the perfect coat, but it will work for playing around in the snow and running from car to house, car to store, car to church, etc.  Let's face it, it only needs to work for a month or so.  Can't beat the price, and now I don't have to freeze while we're in the frozen tundra!  :)
