After over 3 1/2 years, I have finally had my bypass surgery.  I had it on Fri. morn..  I was able to come home on Sat. night because I was doing so well.  Now, the questions, I cannot seem to pass gas.  I can burp but It won't come out the other direction.  I am wakling 3 times a day for about  8-10 mins.each time.  What else can I  do?  Also, I am struggling to get in my 2-3 oz. of protein/water in.  I just seem to stay full.  Any suggestions are appreciated!

Congratulations on your surgery and quick discharge!  To relieve the gas pains I can only recommend walking more frequently.  You should be walking every hour unless you're sleeping.  Even if it's only for 10 mins or so.  It will help dissipate the pain.  And sip, sip, sip!!!  ALL the time!  lol  Don't worry quite so much about the protein at this stage but it is imperative that you get adequate fluids.  STRIVE for 64 ounces a day otherwise you risk dehydration and that can make you feel miserable!  So just keep water with you at all times and sip away!  Don't wait to feel hungry cuz that ain't gonna happen!  Not for a LONG time!  LOL All the best!

Congrats on your surgery. Gax-X has a dissolvable strip that might help you.  And there's a chewable also.  But do keep strolling... that walking does more to help than anything, at least it did for me.
