Do any of you have Cigna insurance?  My sister wants to have RNY and her company is switching to Cigna in January.   What do they require for approval?  Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I dont currently have Cigna, I was on them previously and know they require the 6 month supervised diet (if she lives in NC, not sure about other states), they require 5 years weight history and you must meet a BMI of 35+ w/comorbs, or 40+ without for at least 4 of the past 5 years.  Of course they could have changed some but thats a basic idea.

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

HALO laser on arms/neck 9/2016

Thigh Lift 10/2020

Thigh Lift revision 10/2021

I have cigna myself and yes, they requiere a supervise diet for six month.  My process was as follow:  June had my first consultation in June/06 with my surgeon, July/06  PCP and Phych eval, Aug/06 Nut, Sept/06 Surg, Oct/06 PCP, Sleep Study, and  ENDO, Nov/06 Nut, and PCP, Dec/06 Surg.  After that he send the request for approval with a letter and notes from my PCP, also a letter from me explaining why I wanted to have surgery.  In Jan I was approved and I had the final tests done and on Feb/07 had my surgery.  It sounds like a long process but believe me time goes fast. Good luck hope this helps your sister.

Thanks so much for the information.  Your calender of "events" was very helpful and may help her in planning and to make the time go faster.
