Got my approval yesterday.  I can't believe the ease of the insurance process.  I have the state employee BCBS NC PPO and they were awesome.  My paperwork was submitted on Tuesday and approved on Thursday.   My surgery is January 2 and I can't wait.

I also have BCBS PPO and it was approved before I went for my appt with the surgeon. I don't think the comp plan is as easy though-- I'm so glad I switched to the PPO! Did you switch to 90/10 or do you have 80/20? I switched to 90/10 when they opened the "special enrollment" in Sept and I only paid about $1000 out of pocket for the surgery... I got a short term disability check also so that pretty much made my surgery FREE! Can't beat that! Congrats on the surgery date. Have a great Christmas and good luck with the surgery!!!

Good luck on getting your approval.  I was really worried because I basically have no  co-morbidities... no high blood pressure, no diabetes, no GERD, no high cholesterol... I'm the healthiest fat girl I know  ...  I do have the 5 years of high BMI but thats all... I was beyond worried that  I would get denied... I'm so excited about getting the weight off before I develop any medical problems... the customer service reps at BCBS were awesome and so nice I have been so lucky... my initial consultation with the surgeon was Nov 13th and I got insurance approval on Dec 13th... my surgery is Jan 2... I've heard such horror stories about getting through this process... I feel very blessed at how well things have gone so far
