What do you do to get your 60 minutes of exercise in daily? My doctors office requires. 60,60,60.  60 of E, 60 of P, 60 of W. You can break up your exercise anyway you want but at the end of the day it has to equal to 60 minutes.  Right now I am walking twice a day with my dogs, but ehwwwwwww that is getting old.

Made it to ONDERLAND!!!!!!!

Well, you're really early out, so I don't think there are too many options.  My Dr didn't want me doing any strenuous activity until 6 weeks out.  So, walking was about it until then.  It's great that you're walking with your dogs.  It's kind of like extra motivation, because they come to rely on it to, and we all want our fur babies to be happy!  :)  Once you're cleared for more strenuous activity, then the world opens up to you.  I started resistance training.  I have a Total Gym at home.  It's the one advertised by Chuck Norris and Christie Brinkley.  I had done a lot of research on it and found that people really enjoyed it.  Good for core training.  So, I've been enjoying that.  I also just started jogging, which isn't really fun, but it's exciting that I can!  :)  My big love is swimming.  It's possibly my favorite form of exercise, and is great for those of us who are carrying around excess weight, or if you have any joint problems.  Unfortunately, a pool is not available to me just yet.  Hubby's job is moving to a new set of buildings and I'll be able to use their pool, but it won't be available for a few more months.  I also really like playing tennis and racquetball. It's just a matter of finding the exercise that you enjoy.  Once you can, just get out there and try things.  Whether you're good at it or not, it'll get you moving and that's just what we all need!  Good luck!

I bought me some hand held arm weights and do 15 minutes of resistive exercises each morning and each night.  This is easy to do because you can do it while you watch TV.   I also walk my dog around the neighborhood.  I have just started doing abdominal exercises.  I usually break my workout into 15 minute intervals and it really isn't bad.  I also go swimming 2 - 3 x weekly with my family.  That is a good total body workout.  Hope this helps.  Please stay in touch.   Donna

I do weight training monday wednesday and friday - it starts with a 10 minute warm up of cardio and ends with a 10 minute of cool down (20 mins) I weight train for about 45 minutes (so thats over an hour!) On tuesdays and thursdays I do cardio only... I dont go for time... I have a certain path I go and it now takes me about 40 mins... use to take me an hour, sometimes more! Saturdays I either do cardio or yoga... anywhere from 45 mins to an hour and a half...  Sunday I rest :-) When it was warmer out I would swim for my cardio... Ive also taken hip hop aerobics, sexy cardio classes, pole dancing... there are so many options out there these days and most places will let you check out a class for free or have a certain day of the week where classes are cheaper. Also around this area is a lot of yoga in the park - which will be great when it stays warm!

hey there! i haven't been active on the board in forever..but just happened to check.  after a while you will become addicted to exercise!!!!  early on walk walk walk....once given the ok start to life weights so you won't lose all your muscle. swimming is fun!!  walking in the water even early on is fun..or just trea****er.  i ride bikes now...just did my first century...109 miles in one day!! whoohooo!!! it is amazing because you get a rush and your body turns into a normal body that wants to weigh less.  i think once an overweight person looses weight some of us appreciate our body's more than a skinny person.  i am way more active than most of my skinny friends cause i appreciate a second chance. most new people have no idea i used to be large. goodluck and just keep plugging..add a little all the time. i got so i was working out 5 days a week for a while some days for 2 1/2 hours....that is not necessary..but it was fun.  i've been lazier since the century 3 weeks ago..but now getting ready to jump back in....congrats on your success!!!! susan ps..i'm now down to 144

Because I work two jobs and it is dark when I leave and dark when I get home I have to do my erercise in bursts.  I do some weight training in the morning before I get into the shower.  Three times a day I have to escort kids to class so I make them take the long way around the school and I walk at top warp speed.  When I change jobs in the afternoon I try to park as far away from the building as I safely can (it will be dark when I come out) and I jet to the building.  I can tell my stamina is improved.  On the weekends I walk for 30-45 minutes each day.   I have just purchased a Total Gym and I am waiting for my son-in-law to help me move it inside from the garage.  It weighs a ton.  I bought it through QVC.
