UPDATE on endoscopy today and the nausea issue...

Well fortunately or unfortunately, Dr. MacD didn't see a thing in me (such as an ulcer or narrowing of the pouch opening) that could be causing this ()@#*&$)#(&)(* nausea.  I'm already taking Previcid for my terrible hiatal hernia and he added reglan today.  He also said he's going to get me scheduled for an Upper GI to take a look see on that.   HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY So for now, nothing new to report.  He said it's "not good" to be taking the Zofran, and I told him I realize that, but for now, taking that is the only thing keeping me upright, functioning and somewhat human.  I was dying for something to drink since the last thing I had was last night at 10PM.  My test was actually at 1PM, but they told me noon, so that meant nothing to eat or drink for 2 hours after that, so I made daddy head straight to Smithfield's when we got into Zeb for some ICED TEA and then over to Taco Bell where I got and ate half of a Mexican Pizza.  I came here to throw this note in and now I'm going hit the sack for a while and rest away this grogginess!

I glad they found nothing but on the other hand you still know nothing. I know how you must feel about that horrible chaulk you have to swallow with the upper GI Hope it comes out good. Good Luck  Myrtis

I hate they didn't find anything, Wendy, but I'm glad it's nothing bad like an ulcer. Did he say why you couldn't take the Zofran? I'm sure there is a good reason, but like you said you do what you got to do to function!  Any idea when the upper GI will be? YUMMMMMMM.....Smithfields sounds awesome. I just wi**** could be SWEET tea. Unsweet with slenda/sweet low just isn't the same... gosh, hush puppies too... see why I needed the WLS and you just mentioned the NAME of the place. *HEHE* Hope you start feeling better... Keep us posted.

He didn't say I can't take the Zofran, just that it's not a "good thing" long term when it is masking something he'd like to find and try to fix.  For now, I'll keep taking it, but I haven't taken any today.  Last one I took was with supper last night about 5ish.  I woke up a little nauseus this morning, but not had any tonight since I ate that Mexican Pizza.  I'm gonna lay off of it for as long as I can and see if the nausea comes back.

Thanks for all the well wishes everybody.  I put on my jammies and curled up in bed on this beautiful afternoon when I got home... and took a rest.  Got up and sauteed those scallops and lobster and immediately got nauseated AGAIN!  So I quickly popped my Zofran and feel better.  I didn't take any since supper last night to see if I was better or if I'd get sick again. I'm laptopping here in my big comfy chair watching Greta and headed to bed soon.  I don't swim on Thursdays so I'm laying low tomorrow but will swim Friday AM at 9.

Nothing in the world is as bad as having Nausea.. I was full blown from the Morphine pump when I had my RNY and the Zofran didnt touch it... I was begging for Fenagan as it made me so tired i passed out and forgot how sick I felt, but they could only give it to me every 8 hours Big (((((((HUGS))))))))))) to you Wendy.. I hope it all subsides for you sweetie.

Have you ever used Prevacid before?  I'll be honest - I tried it pre-op and it didn't do a darn thing for  my GERD.  Post-op, it STILL didn't do a darn thing for my GERD. Once my doctor switched me back to Protonix, I saw a SIGNIFICANT drop in the nausea.  As in, I am actually at work and functioning now. They're KIND of the same thing - but they're not the same thing.  Could be, you just need to switch it up.  Sadly, the Protonix is way more expensive - but SO worth it if it works. Just my thoughts - let me know how you do.  I barely came out of my nausea induced coma of 10 days.

I'm afraid to post in case I jinx myself, but I've not had ANY nausea today.  But I've also not had much to eat or drink either.  I didn't take any Zofran this morning to see what would happen knowing I could pop one if need be. Started the day trying to push fluids and worked on a tall glass of iced tea first thing this morning. Then, I tried a piece of toast with some peanut butter.  That sat well in my tummy. Had some Splenda fruit ****tail with the juice in that a little later that worked. Kept sipping tea... and while out this afternoon, I got a country ham/cheese/egg biscuit at Bojangles and took off the bread and ate the innards w/out any nausea! Sipped on some coffee after that for the first time in a month!  I love coffee, but haven't been able to drink it but once or twice since surgery... it was REAL good! Now I realize I'm lagging on food/protein/fluids, but I'm taking baby steps as I feel like it and so hoping the nausea is tapering off!  I did eat one of those same Bojangles biscuits recently (on one of those "good days" when the nausea had subsided for a couple of days) and it sit well in my tummy and didn't make me sick. For as long as I can remember, any time I've had an upset tummy or nausea, the one thing I have been able to eat w/out problem is country ham, which has perplexed my friends and family.  I guess it may be the saltiness in it.  So maybe that's why it's sitting well on my tummy now. I feel SO good tonight with food in my stomach and no nausea.  I'm looking forward to getting up early and heading to swim aerobics.  I've got my daddy going to physical therapy at the Y (got that started last week) so I'm making his appointments at the same time as my swim groups so he can exercise while I swim and we both benefit from that $3+/gallon gas trips over to Wake Forest from Zebulon.  He's not usually very receptive so any sort of exercise (I got it honest) but so far, he's not balking.  And even though we are SO alike and butt heads a lot, we're (so far) enjoying spending a little time together twice a week and going out for a healthy breakfast or lunch after we "Y" at the Y! Keep yer fingers crossed for me that the nausea has left the building!
