I'm personally not a treadmill kinda gal.   For me, the best investment for walking is my iPod! and the $ I spend downloading songs.  I have downloaded lots of Oldie Goldie favs that are just the right walking beat and I put those pods in my ears and take off down the road.  I also have a separate Sunday AM walking "album" on my iPod with lively Gospel music with walking beats.  During warmer months, I use the same songs to tap dance with on my patio. (I've even tapped on my carpet inside.) I live out on a long country road w/little traffic and some days I'm out there skipping down the road, or walking backwards, or half dancing half walking.  I'm sure there are folks around here who think I'm nutzo or wonder who that silly woman is... but I know most folks going up and down my road... a lot of farmers! I must "look the part" too, so I just bought several of those ear warmer/headband thingys and matching gloves/scarves for my walking outfits too... and those things, along with my iPod and money spent downloading is WAY cheaper than a treadmill that in my house would also become a clothes hanger.  I find that if I LOOK good, I then FEEL good/better, thus I work at it harder than if I just threw on some junky clothes, but again, that's what works for me. Find what works for your and go for it!  Exercise is KEY for us as we begin our new journey. The surgery is just ONE tool.  We have to move our arsses too and nobody can do that for us but us! NOTHING gets me out the door faster than put'n on my ear buds and crank'n up KC & The Sunshine's BOOGIE SHOES or Peter Frampton and SIGN, SEALED, DELIVERED!! (My iPod and the songs on it also help me whip right through house-cleaning too!)  Maybe I'll post my song list to give y'all ideas if anybody wants to see...  From best I can tell, there's quite a few of us 70's music aged folks around these parts! If (click here---->) THIS don't make you get up and move, nothing will!
