WENT TO THE DOCTOR WELL AND CAME HOME SICK!

I had my quarterly check up appointment wtih my FP Wednesday.   His receptionist who kept me at her desk redoing insurance paper work was dying with some terrible head cold and sore throat.  She claimed to be running a high fever (why she was there is a mystery to me).  I whipped out my hand sanitizer as soon as I sat down but she had sneezed and coughed on me by then.    Its Friday and I am just as sick as she was with a sore throat, stuffed up nose, and sneezing.  Now that makes me angry.  This is the third time since surgery that I have gone to that office well and come home sick.   I am not going back unless I am wearing a mask and surgical gloves.   I learned not to shake hands with the doctor a while back.   He doesn't wash his hands between every patient and I got a nasty stomach flu after shaking hands with him.   My daughter used to say that I was just a little OCD but she goes to the same doctor and had to go yesterday and ran into the receptionist.  She went in for her flu shot and probably caught the same cold.    I work parttime in a hospital and I don't see patients but we are told to stay home if we think we are sick.  One person can wipe at an entire department with the sniffles.   Now I have to miss work because someone else didn't have the sense to stay home when so violently ill.   Wheew--now that I have vented that makes me feel better.

That's SO inappropriate!  If she's running a high fever and feeling miserable she has no right to be at work.  I know that not everyone has the luxury of sick time, and it's tough especially at the holidays to be without a complete paycheck - but you're talking about people's health!    If she gave me the flu, I'd not only have to miss work - I'd have to completely avoid my family (my grandma has an immunity problem).   That would make me cry a river! I hope you're back on your feet soon - I'm not sure how you can tactfully say something - but I'd certainly voice a concern Rest and feel better! Nikki

So sorry you are sick!!! I don't blame you for being upset... I would be too! I agree with the PP, you should definitely voice your concern at that doctor's office!!! I hope you feel better!!!

This post really hit home for me -- Last week I had a cough/cold sore throat thing , I call the Crud. I did feel horrible and wished I could have stayed home in my warm soft bed BUT----- my little bundle of joy ( my 14 month old foster child )  had drained me dry of personal time , you see he had a terrible virus and I had no choice but to stay home with him 2 months ago ..    SO , if I had missed work, I would have not been paid, and I have this terrible thing called a mortage company that wants this check from me each month , and you see if I miss a day or two of pay I can not make this payment... anyway I kept to myself washed my hands every hour, used the hand sanitizer stuff and the clorox clean up wipes etc...  We can pick up a bug anywhere we go , I don't remember being around anyone that was sick before I got it -- so I must have picked it up on a cart at the Bi Lo or a stair rail etc... Like I said -- If I had personal days I would have stayed home , but when you can't , you can't .

Melinda... Dr. Nazari is OUR doc's office too!  Now I'm thinking I need to put on armor when I go Monday.

It wasn't Dr. Naziri's office that I was at--local family practice.   I think if you work in health services and you are as sick as that chick was and running temperature you should stay home sick days or not.    There were many elderly patients there that day for check ups that really could not afford to come down with that crud.   If you have to work sick then you should not have patient contact--go file in the back room.   I'm staying home from both my jobs today and its costing me a bundle.  Christmas will suffer this year.   Sorry, I'm still venting.  Glad I can type because I can't talk.
