Wendy, I'm so sorry you are feeling so sick!!!!  I experience some nauseu now after eating and not as much as before, but NOTHING like you are experiencing... I'm also worried about the dehydration part-- that is not good!!!  Have you tried the chicken soup? Maybe it will help some... I wish you could eat something and not feel so nauseous...

I, too, have had problems drinking just plain water-- especially in the mornings... it seems I need to be up and moving around some before anything will "sit well" on my stomach... some mornings are different from others, but for the most part it takes a while before I can eat/drink anything even though I'm so thirsty!  I am glad you are going to get here Monday to see Dr. Mac... I hope he can figure out what is going on!!!  Do your best to get some liquid this weekend and I hope you feel better! Keep us posted!!!

Nikki, I hate that you too are going through this... even though it is comforting to know I'm not in the boat all by myself.  I've been wanting to try a pickle like that gal on Big Medicine, but haven't been able to just yet!  LOL  I hope you and I both soon eat that ONE thing like she did that turned the table.   I'll mention that med to the doc Monday and also plan to get my Zofran RX filled TODAY.  And I'll be sure to post any helpful hints along the way and you (and others) please do the same.   Melinda, I hope your nausea subsides too and doesn't get any worse.   Geesh... why must us fat folks have to endure such torture on the OTHER end of surgery!  Ain't it enough that we've suffered years of fatness?!?!?  LOL

OH, BTW, I'm a HUGE fan of Zofran.  My mama retired years ago from Glaxo.  I had some terrible nausea problems with anesthesia and some surgeries back then and she's the one who told me to ask for Zofran when I had my gall bladder surgery.  The anesthesiologist was a smart ass and wanted to know why I was asking for such an expensive drug.  I told him because I knew it would help me with the post-surgery nausea, and that quite frankly, I have excellent insurance that will PAY FOR IT and that it wasn't coming out of HIS pocket, and asked him why he was being such a smart ass asking me like he did when I was laying there feeling SO bad. I got some then and every surgery since, and have never had post-surgery nausea either! ZOFRAN is GOOD STUFF!

Is it possible that you're eating too fast?  This will definitely cause nausea.  Try slowing waaaayyyyyyyy down and take a lloooooooooooonnnnnnggggg time eating.  If nothing else, it might help you stick out the weekend before calling Big Mac on Monday. Just a thought. Take care. Ellen

Own it all, it's yours!

Oh you poor thing!  I am so sorry you are dealing with this!  I also couldn't stand the thought of food or drink for weeks after surgery.  But you don't want to sit back and do nothing with a weekend upon us.  You could wind up in the emergency room.  So yes, do take the Zofran.  And make sure you go to the dr on Monday.  I wish you had gone today.  Dehydration not only messes with your body but it alters your ability to think logically and that can only add to your physical problems if you aren't making good nutrition choices.  Of course, it only makes the nausea worse as well! Please take the anti-emetic and let us know how you are doing.  Something that used to settle my stomach was stewed tomatoes.  Cold ones.  Shellfish also goes down well always.

Hey Wendy,

I hope by now you are feeling better.  For me the only way to get over the nausea was to throw up.  It didn't seem to matter if nothing came up, just throwing up would eleviate the nausea.  I know that is gross, but all I could do.

I appreciate everybody's input on this so fast for me.  I'm feeling SO much better today... starting with the patch I stuck on yesterday (thanks Robin) to the disolvable Zofran I started popping this morning.  For the first day in a while, I feel like standing and walking upright and getting outside w/out a cold cloth on my face and the heaves in my belly.   It's a beautimous day and I hope y'all are enjoying it as much as I am...  It started out with my little nephew Wyatt crawling into bed with me about 6:30 this morning... I stayed over a their house last night since I was keeping him for mama and daddy to go out on a date... and the guest bedroom is right beside his.  We laughed and played in the bed for about an hour before we got "up."  And the day has just gotten better since then...

Wendy, I'm so sorry you have had such a rough time.  The only time I have had any nausea or vomiting was when I ate too fast. I hope you feel back to normal real soon. I have not been around the board much lately.  WE have been trying to get our daughter moved into her duplex she just bought.  She is still taying here at home but I hope she will starting staying there by next weekend.  She is a homebody and just doesn't want to be alone.  She adopted  a darlying little dog, so I hope that will help.  Take care!  Alice

Thanks Alice.  I'll be coming down there tomorrow afternoon to see Dr. MacD and get his take on it.  Thank GOD for Robin's patch suggestion... and the "dissolve on my tongue" Zofran!  One or both of them has given me life back yesterday and today!   Disolvable Zofran...
