Changing the way I cook

I used to be a "fabulous cook" ... the only problem was that what I was cooking was killing me. So now I'm having to relearn how to cook in a way that help me live a long, healthy life. To that end, I've been collecting some cookbooks to help me with that endeavor ... Here are some that I've been enjoying lately:

Better Homes and Gardens 8 Grams or Less Low-Carb Recipes

Better Homes and Gardens 15 Minutes or Less Low-Carb Recipes

Better Homes and Gardens Phase 1 Low-Carb Recipes

More Healthy Homestyle Cooking by Evelyn Tribole

I like all of the cookbooks, but the one by Evelyn Tribole is great because it's helping learn to to rework some of my favorites.

I got some at Barnes and Noble and some at Marshall's ... I like the prices at Marshall's a lot better!

Have you ever checked out half.com ? Its a site that sells used books - sometimes its not as cheap because you have to pay for shipping... but most times Ive gotten books for about 25% of the cover price (including paying for shipping)! They will tell you about the condition of the book so you can decide what to buy.

Ever try www.cookinglight.com?  Great receipe's and other info.  And, you can sign up for their free newsletters, too.  Of course, they also have a monthly magazine.  But, with so much on the website....

Thank you for sharing.  Right now I am doing the low carb pre op diet.  My bf told me that I don't cook as good.  I'm like:

# 1.  Tasting for me means big bites and several of them. # 2.  Knowing I can't eat what I cook, takes the joy out of it. Yep, we need to relearn.  Growing up everything was fried, with grease.  And the meal had starchy sides and bread.  It is hard to change what we learned for so many years.
