My GB will be ringing in 2008!

I was scheduled for gall bladder surgery tomorrow and it has been moved to Jan 4th. There are a few reasons but basically my current insurance has a huge deductible and it starts over January 1st so financially it makes sense to wait. The surgery is going to cost me around $1500-$2000 and I would hate to pay all that now just to pay it again next year.  So far I have been ok... as long as I stick to the soft/mushy/liquidy foods. I found, of course, that carbs work fine... I can eat bread/pasta/chips etc without any issues. Thankfully the scale has moved down another pound and not up. I hate not being able to eat veggies/salads (only really mushy veggies work and I love mine raw) and I am limited on the fruit... all this dairy is, well, backing me up! ugh!! I am thankful that I havent had much GB pain. Since seeing the surgeon 2 weeks ago Ive only had 1 harsh GB attack and 1 mini. I have learned a few tricks to help prevent them but cant wait (like drinking while eating, yes a HUGE no-no!!****il this orderal is over! So pray that my GB will stay nice and calm over the holidays. I am going to dinner at my BFs familys next Saturday - there will be about 25-35 people there total so I would hate to have something happen!! For Christmas I will be in Florida so hopefully it wont be as miserable as Thanksgiving was!

Well, your plan makes plenty sense, but I know I couldn't do it myself.  Take care of yourself and keep us updated, OK. Pam

I'm having my GB surgery on the 20th so I won't have to start over with insurance deductables.  I am eating the same way you are...  I had to go home from work the other day because of my GB... and I've had the last 2 days off but didn't do much because of the pain.  ugh!  I can't wait for it to be overwith!!!  I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Yeah its awful. What I have been eating has been pretty horrible... I can handle mush/soft/liquids but my body also has NOOOOOOOO problems with bread carbs.  I am missing my veggies and fruit :-( its been hit or miss with those... I had some carrots/cukes/celery the other day and thought I was going to die *sigh* Im going to go today to buy some benefiber because all this dairy is killing me!  I wish I was getting it done sooner but I will keep toughing it out!

Oh yeah....I know all about those high deductibles.  Yeah, keep to your diet.  Those gall bladder episodes hurt so bad, you'll be scared to eat anything else.  I wish you the best.

I used to get very bad GB attacks and took vicodin and zantac to ease the pain. It really works

If like me, you'll feel like a NEW woman from head to toe after your GB is gone!  I never had any pain or "attack" but just 24/7 nausea for a month before we figured out what it was... for 2 weeks I did nothing because I thought I had a stomach bug.  Went to doc next week and got DX, then took about another 10 days to get surgery scheduled due to light OR schedule during Labor Day holiday time.  My stones were so big so I asked for them and still have them in a jar!  LOL I'm sure you already know this, but stay FAR away from anything that is even slightly greasy...  That grease will make you think you are going to die!   I hope that Christmas in Florida will be a healthy happy time for you...
