The grapefruit is gone

I had hernia repair surgery today.  It was the size of a grapefruit.  I am in a little pain but the drugs are easing it a bit.  I am home and on the road to recovery.  My doc put mesh behind the muscle.  Hope it does not come back.  Went in at 1130am and I was home by 530 pm.  So glad I got to come home and not stay overnite.  They told me when " you can walk, talk and tinkle you can go home".  So when I got to recovery I made sure I could do all three. hug to all monica

Did you have to do all three at the same time? That could be kinda messy!  Seriously, been there in a smaller way.  Glad to hear all is well.  When did the hernia appear?

Lol... I had a hernia before RNY surgery and it caused a blockage so my surgeon fixed it 2 days after my bypass.  This new one in about the same area came up about 6 months ago and got big fast.  The other one I had had for over 10 years.  I did not want this new one to cause problems so my doc said lets fix it.

That was exactly what I needed to know.  I had a hernia prior to surgery, and went back in four days after for repair whe it strangulated.  My surgeon said I had a reasonable chance of it coming back, and I just wondered when I should be aware/concerned.  Looks like it came up at about 6 months, yes?  So I guess I need to start paying attention!  thanks!
