Dr's Office Slow to Submit
Has anyone had surgery with Dr. Moran? If so, what was your experience with his staff? I've heard that his nurse, Janelle, is wonderful. Unfortunately, I have been working with one of his other staff members. Her follow up and attention to detail leaves something to be desired. I had my initial consultation on Nov 13th and by Nov 19th I had completed my psych evaluation, nutrition evaluation, gastroenterologist appt., bloodwork and chest x-ray. I worked hard to get the prior approval workup done within 1 week because I'm trying to get my surgery scheduled before the spring semester. I'm a single working mom going to school. I've left 3 messages since Monday just trying to find out if she has all my paperwork from the other doctors and to check on when she will submit. However, no call back. I really like Dr. Moran and his staff but this is very frustrating.
They're almost all like this. The insurance person is busy, there are a lot of us trying to get approved. It took my doctor's office almost two months to submit mine. There were a lot of excuses and finger pointing, but the bottom line is that somewhere someone wasn't doing their job.
What we keep saying is true. The squeaky wheel gets oiled first. If you aren't making noise, rest assured someone else is, and they'll likely get submitted first so the insurance handler doesn't have to hear from them anymore. I'm not suggesting being such a "b" that they get mad, that'll backfire. Just make a phone call once a week asking for an update until they submit it.
Take care and good luck.

Thanks for the advice ... the bariatric coordinator called me this morning to let me know that they had all of my paperwork except for the psych report.... she said she would call to get it but of course that's what she told me last Wednesday as well... she was much nicer this time so I feel like we're getting on the right track... I'm just going to call once a week as you suggested to touch base on the status... its just frustrating when I paid a $250 program/administrative fee
