Well, tomorrow is my big day!!  I have to be at the hospital at 5:30am and my surgery is at 7:30.  I am really emotional today just wondering if that is normal.  I am really nervous but excited too!  Everyone please say a prayer for me.

Hey Suzy, welcome!  And congratulations on your surgery tomorrow.  You will do great! Of course it is normal to have ambivalent feelings right about now.  Just spend the time making a list of the reasons to have this surgery and you will see that it is the best decision for your health that you can make.  Your surgeon wouldn't do it and your insurance company wouldn't approve it if it weren't. So hold onto your seat and let us get to know you better and be sure to let us know how it all went.  You will be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow morning. Do you have an angel?

Hi Suzy -

It is soooo normal to be nervous. Not only are you having major surgery tomorrow, but it will require major lifestyle changes. That said, I have to tell you that everyone that I know that has done this says that it's the best thing they ever did for themselves. When I got nervous, I made a list of the reasons I applied to have the procedure done and also looked at the likelihood I'd be able to take care of those things if I didn't have the surgery. The surgery always won out ... my fear of dying young, and not living fully if I didn't have the surgery, trumped my fear of the pain, possible complications and life-style changes I'd be facing by deciding to have the surgery.

You have to do what's best for you. It appears that if you've gotten to this point, you've decided that this what's best for you and your Dr's and even the insurance company agree.

Remember that we are all here to support you as you make this journey. I look forward to getting to know you as you share your concerns, experiences and triumphs.

Wishing you all the best and keeping you in thought and prayer.

You for sure have our prayers!    One note:  The morning of my surgery, I turned down the offer of something to relax me (thought I was "just fine").  After a few minutes, I asked for the happy juice and was so glad I did.  Take advantage of everything they offer you, you don't have to be macho woman.  Have a wonderful journey and we'll keep the bench open for ya!  .
