Laura -

I'm soooo excited about the upcoming Soiree. I wanted to touch base with you and see if you think bring a music maker to play some festive holiday tunes might help enliven the party? If so, I'd be glad to help with that. Also, I don't remember if there is coffee making stuff there. I have a couple of the "industrial/party size" coffee pots that could be used for coffee and would be glad to bring them if you think they would be helpful.

A couple of folks have asked me about the prefered atire. My first thought is "Clothes" LOL... I thought festive might be nice for this gathering ... and festive could be open to your interpretation.

It seems that I recall that we should either bring something cold or something that can be plugged in ... i.e., hot plate or crock pot if we have something that should be served hot, is that correct?

Would you like some setup/cleanup help? Please let me know. I'd be glad to come early/stay late to help with either or both. I don't want this all sitting on your lovely shoulders.

If I haven't thanked you lately for arranging for the venue ... I want you to know that I know I and others truly appreciate your going out of your way to make this available to all of us. Soooo....THANK YOU, very much!

Please let me know if there is anything I can to be of help.

Barb

Coffee....  We do not have anything at all for coffee.  (I know it's weird to have no coffee in an office... I will explain that later if you want to really know why.)  So if you want coffee then yes bring the industrial size coffee pot and everything that goes with it. Music is a yes!  I have Sarah McLaglan's Christmas music that she released last year... that is about it on my end.  But if you have a portable music playing contraption you can bring that would be good too! Attire...  umm my thoughts on this are wear what you want to wear.  I surely wouldn't want for anyone to go out and spend a butt load of money on a new outfit, or feel as though they can't come because they "have nothing to wear"...   I mean hell if you want to get all snazzy go for it!  If you want to wear your pajamas... GO FOR IT, I may even join you!!  So in short, I don't care what folks wear as long as they wear something.... FOOD - you are right Barbara.  We do have access to a microwave, and a fridge but no stove.  If you have something that needs to stay warm, a crock pot or hot plate will work.  Otherwise, cold or room temperature items are great to bring.  Also (this is for everyone)... BRING YOUR OWN SERVING UTENSILS!! SETUP/CLEANUP - I can always use help with this... we need some men or some strong women to move a couple of tables, possibly.  I will see if I can get them moved on Friday before my testosterone leaves Friday afternoon.  But yes I always welcome help in that department! I just hope everyone that comes has a great time, and that we all get to finally hug each other!!  Now I am back to decorating this tree!  See yall soon

Coffee....  I'll bring my pot ... I was thinking that I might bring decaf so that anyone who wanted some could enjoy, since many can't have the caffinated stuff.
Music is a yes!
I'll bring a music contraption and see what I can find in the music department ... If anyone else has music to contribute just let me know!
Attire...
I agree ... let's not go crazy in the clothing department. While I think festive is a nice idea, it'll need to be something I can find second hand ... hehehe ... none of my festive stuff from years past fits. Like you, I wouldn't want anyone not to come because they thought that they HAD to go out and get a new outfit.
FOOD - What do you think about asking folks to bring the recipes along with their dishes. I'm always looking for new recipes :-) ... should be optional of course!

SETUP/CLEANUP -
I'll be glad to help with setup and cleanup. I'm also willing to volunteer my DH to come help. He's great about doing that kind of stuff.

I have a ?

If I recall correctly, we're doing Dirty Santa gift exchange, but we can either bring a gag gift or "real" gift.  If that's the case, I'd like to know what folks are planning to bring?!?  I'd hate to be the only one show up with a gag gift if everybody else brings a "real" one... or vice versa... would love some clarification on the gift thing!

Thanks...

If i can make it - my intent is to bring a Gag gift. Right now my plan are in the air. I've marked this day down as a "don't touch for party"... but you all know what life does.. and right now the young'un is making life really really really hard
