Hello Myrtis!!  I know you are getting excited about your surgery.  Dr. Roc is just awesome.  You have no doubt got a great Dr. and he will do whatever is the best for you.  I agree with Suzanne about trying some kind of diet for these two weeks.  When I went for my pre-op I was so pleased to see that I had lost 15 pounds and that was mainly due to dropping all soft drinks and most all caffeine.  Just amazing how many calories are in those drinks.!!   I know you have waited a long time for this to happen and you have been persistant.....it will all be over before you know it.  Then I will see you walking to the loosers bench...!!  What a great feeling to know I am there and one day you will be. Hang in there!   Connie

Thanks for all your encouaragement. I am excited....I am trying to keep my calorie intake at 1000  calories and absolutely no more than 1200. I measure and weigh everything. I got these neet food scales from QVC that does tare weight and if you put a code in will even tell nutritional value. I love that toy. I was using a oudated postal scale from back when stamps were 12 cents. I have been off of sweet drinks for years ....my problem is portions thus........measure and weigh. My idea of portions use to be off the charts. So  in the last month I have lost 14lbs. Hope to at least loose another 5 to 10 before surgery in 12 days. Gals do you think I can? Thanks again Myrtis

Hey Myrtis!  So excited for you!    I made a point to track my proteins and carbs pre-op and water intake too.  ! tried to drink as much water (flavored) as I could, to make sure I wasn't even close to dehydrated on the day of surgery!  I agree with Dena, if you want it, have it, but don't overdo.  I allowed myself one meal a week that I didn't track in those weeks pre-op  and it worked well for me.  Enoy the journey and God bless!

I was tickled that Dr. Bauman didn't do the liquid diet preop thing, too.  I really watched what I ate the last couple of weeks preop, keeping in mind that he WILL definitely cancel surgery if you gain weight.  In fact, he recently did that to a patient ... after the patient got to the hospital the morning of surgery.   If you are dying to have something this next 13 days, allow yourself to have it, but don't over-do it.  It sounds like you have a good plan in place.  If you stick to that plan more often than not, you will do fine.  Since your diet is about to change so drastically in a couple of weeks, try now to incorporate fewer carbs and more protein into your daily diet.  You'd be surprised what a little change will help you to accomplish.   It's great to have a surgery buddy!  I'm surprised by the amount of people who come through for surgery who don't have any OH buddies.  I write down the web site all the time for them so they can come get some pals.  It makes the journey so much easier to know you're not in it alone.  Of course, I know I'm preaching to the choir here.

Thanks Deana and Robin, I'm afraid to have a craving. I have been making my meals flavorful with spices but I have been more strict on myself than I have ever been before.    I also have been spreading the word about OH. So many people don't know about it but I have noticed than none of the people I have told are on the board yet. I even check the main board for them. It is so nice to know people are here willing to give and recieve advice. This is a good thing. Did I see a mention of a support meeting which is on the 1st tuesday at NE. I have not had the surgery yet but if I am free can I come or is it for the Lap Banders.

Thanks

Myrtis
