Countdown to surgery! Had my preop visit yesterday and met with aneast.  Met a nice girl which is having the surgery the day after me.  I wish her well and hope we can walk a couple laps together. He did Not put me on a liquid diet like some Drs do. But I can't gain or he will cancel surgery. I hope to loose a couple more pounds before surgery. Surgery is 13 days away. Finally! Best to U All Myrtis

Congratulations!  How exciting!  Where is your surgery going to be?

The laps really made a big difference for me - you could totally tell who was JUST out of surgery, who was one day out and who was two days out  - the recovery was remarkable.

Good luck!  I'll be thinking of you!

Congratsulations Myrtis, Your day will be here before you know it.  Even if your Dr. didn't put you on a liquid diet. why not do it anyways, it will help out in the long run. I'll keep you in my thoughts. Reenie

Congratulations, Myrtis!  You waited a long time!  I have a suggestions:  why not put yourself on a low carb diet--no more than 40 grms of carbs per day--until your surgery?  That way you will likely lose weight, shrink your liver some and increase your chances of having the lap procedure, make life easier for your surgeon when he goes in, AND you will eat well and feel satisfied!  I lost about 15 pounds on my 2 week low carb preop diet.  And never felt deprived.  But it got me psyched up for the surgery!

Hi Myrtis -

My dr didn't require me to do a liquid diet either. I just kept trying to make "wise" decisions regarding portions and selections and was able to maintain the weight loss I had prior to surgery. I know that you'll be able to do this and you are going to be giving yourself one of the best Christmas gifts you've ever had.
