Not so good thanksgiving......
because while I was driving home from Fayetteville NC I had this pain in my lower pelvis area. Like I was holding my pee or something. I had only urinated (sp) twice the whole day. I got home changed my clothes and ate a little something. Of course I sat up 30 min after I ate. Well as I laid down and shut my eyes........BAMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got this paralyzing (sp) pain in my lower left flank (lower back), then it was all on my left side and towards the front. My girlfriend paniced and called 911. I went to the hospital. They did bloodwork and everything, even a CAT scan. Said it was kidney stones, but they couldn't see it on the CAT scan. So they sent me home with some pain medicine. The next day I was good until I went to work and then it hit me. I was in tears could not walk, breath or anything. So I told my charge nurse that I had to go check myself in. Her response " We're short staffed, we're slammed, and I'm busy, so do whatever you got to do!!!" So I clocked out and went and checked myself into the ER. Well after doing bloodwork and a urinalysis(sp) and doing another CAT scan, things had gotten alot worse, in less than 24 hours. So I was admitted. My PCP came around to visit and he told me that I do have kidney stones but there are so many that can't be seen on a CAT scan. I was released late Saturday night after I passed a small stone. So today is Monday and I am going to try this again (going back to work). I am on antibiotic (sp) and pain meds. So I'm set.

Oh (((((Dana)))))!
I'm so sorry to hear of your painful holiday. I think I'm almost as sorry to hear of your charge nurse's compasionate (NOT) reponse. I've been in management myself and while it can definitely throw a wrench into your schedule, people don't "choose" when and where to get sick. I hope that when she has a problem, the people she works for are more compationate.
Hopefully the other stones will stay put or pass "peacefully."
Wishing you a much more comfortable week.
All the best,
Barb

If this is what having a child feels like I NEVER want one!!!! I had 2 CT scans and nothing showed up, however, the ER doctor and my PCP said there defiantly (sp) had one or many. And my PCP said something about my calcium intake and also something about "high serum uric acid". I have a appt. with him next monday for a follow up and to draw labs for Dr. Melkonian. So I will find out more. Thank you so much.

Dana, Sorry to hear about your painful holiday. But I can tell you that at least during childbirth, you can get pain meds to get you thru that!!! So don't fret if you want children. Just thought I'd throw that in there for you!! Hope you are feeling better and back on your feet real soon! Hugs, Donna
