Angels?

I have been debating doing this and asking for an angel, but now that my surgery is 5 days away I am starting to get anxious.  Not Stressed, or Worried...  just some anxiety.  I know it is perfectly normal.  I guess I am human after all huh?  I try and try to be superwoman all the time and I think this time, I am not as strong.  I just would like someone to possibly check in with my husband while he is there waiting and waiting.  See, I worry about him also.  He is much more stressed about this surgery than I am.  (shhh he however doesn't know I know...men!)  I just think he could use some reassurance while there waiting on me to come out of surgery.  So I'm not sure if you would be my angel or his.  LOL!!  I know there are a couple people having surgery around the same time as me at NorthEast Medical in Concord.  I look forward to hopefully meeting you.  My surgery is Wednesday at 7:30am.  Please let me know if you will be there and I will try to come see you during one of my "walks".   The Countdown is on! Hi Connie -

I want you to know that it so very normal to be a little (or more than a little) anxious. Not only are you getting ready to have major surgery, but it means making a life-altering commitment. That said, I have to tell you that it is truly one of the very best things I have ever done for myself. I hope that you will feel the same way too.

I really understand your concern for your husband. I know that mine, and my kids, and my mother ... all worried about me. Having someone available for them is truly thoughtful. I hope that someone in your area will decide to put their wings and halo on to support you as an angel, but if you don't have a local angel available, please let me know. I'll be glad to do some long-distance support via phone and computer. If you want my halo info, just PM me and I'll be glad to share it with you.

One of the things I did to help quell my nerves was to write a list of the reasons for having the surgery ...and not. It helped me refocus. That doesn't mean I didn't have butterflies about it ... I did, but I still feel it was a rational, thought out, reasonable decision. Looking at it on paper, helped me take some of the "high emotion" out of it.

Sending you warm hugs,

Barb

Hey Barbara...thank you for your wonderful words of wisdom.  You really do make me feel better.  I know it is normal to get nervous.  I guess I will get "more" nervous once I am actually in the hospital.  I think I just know the outcome and the benefits that I am so grateful and thankful to be able to have this happen and given a second chance at a better healthier life.   I have found me an angel as you can see from the post that Dena posted.  I couldn't ask for anyone better.  She is a nurse at NorthEast Medical and a nurse in the bariatric area.  AND...she had the same dr. as me.  So...I feel I am in good hands.  I appreciate your offer.   I plan to make out a list tomorrow.  Tomorrow is MY day.  I look forward to an entire day devoted to myself.  I am gonna pamper myself.  I am going to make out my list of To Dos for the hubby....and I am going to do some cleaning for when people come visit.  I am just looking forward to this so much.   As always I think you for your wonderful words.  You are a great inspiration. Hugs backatcha- Connie

Connie~
I had my sugery a day after Linda who used to come to the boards did. I went up the day before my surgery since the hospital is a hour drive and I had to be at admissions at 5:30 am. It was great to go and talk to her before the big day and also we would go visit each other during our stay at Pitt. I also had Nancy, Alice and Ellen visit me which REALLY made my day I wish you the best of luck on your big day!

Thanks Darcie!

I am very excited about having Dena there and also going to visit Donna.  It is so wonderful to be able to meet people going through the same things.

Maybe one day we can all have a huge meeting and everyone can meet each other.

Hi Connie!  Just wanted to say hello and wish you the best on Wednesday.  I'm 5 weeks out and doing great.  I was very tired for the first couple of weeks but after that, I really started feeling better every day.  Now I'm doing pretty much anything I want to do.  You will do great!  Just take it easy and let others care of you for a change.   I'll look for a post on Wed. to see how you are doing.   God Bless, Alice
