Hi! New to the NC Boards!! Question about Tea!

Here I go, calling myself out again...   Let me be upfront by saying my sweet tea habit is the one thing I can't kick....  As I am typing this I am drinking my oh so very sweet tea from Biscuitville.  I know I know the sugar... blah blah...  This is the only form of sugar that I get, well aside from the occasional sip of OJ or something like that, and no I don't dump off of tea... everything else makes me puke but not my tea (my southern roots have overcome this surgery).  I have never been a soda person, so that is a non issue.  The only things I drink are water and sweet tea.  I cannot stand the taste of artificial sweetners, not to mention all of the cancer they have been proven to cause (Saccharin, and Aspartame have been shown to contain carcinogens).  So I just drink my tea with real sugar in it.  Mind you it takes me 8 hours to drink a medium size tea though.  I don't drink a gallon a day or anything crazy like that, just enough to get my "fix".  So the answer to your question is "No" I haven't been able to make my tea taste close to the real thing using a damn thing other than sugar...  sad but true.  I am sorry, really I am... and I feel your pain...   if you can't tolerate it then don't drink it.  I know I am either hot or cold when it comes to what goes in my mouth.  If I couldn't drink the real thing I believe I would not drink it ever again.  Good Luck!

Welcome to NC Board! I can't help you with the tea question. I stopped drinking it when the Dr and nutritionist told me caffine blocks nutrition absorption and I was more likely to need vitamin shots if I kept drinking it. However, I wanted to throw some AWESOME! and Kudos to you! your way. My surgery was 8/30 and I've only lost 60 - that's 20lbs a month! While I honestly had hoped to lose more, when I put it in that perspective for myself, I'm ok with it.  So Chin up!!

My DH is 7 months out from surgery and he drinks regular sweet tea with no problems.  I'm hoping that will be the case for me, because if I can't handle it after surgery, then I'll just have to do without.  I cannot stand artifical sweeteners, including Splenda.
