Well, after working on this approval and surgery for more than two years, I am finally approved and have a surgery date of December 19th.  I really don't know how I feel.  I was so up when I first started this journey, but the insurance company dening me kinda deflated my emotion.  Now that everyihing is approved and a surgery date set, I am excited and scared.  I hate that this is all happening so close to Christmas because of the grandchildren, but it is a great time for not having to miss much work.  Did anyone of you go through these same feelings?

I know that I sure did. To be honest, almost everyone I can think of gets a little nervous when they get their approval. It's one thing to think about doing this in the abstract; it's another when you get down to "brass tacks." When the nerve**** me, I looked at my reasons for pursuing the surgery and what was likely to happen if I didn't go through with it. I also looked at my risk factors for coming through the surgery well. I decided that it was something that I needed and wanted to do. I was still nervous, but felt it was the right decision for me.

We all have to decide what's best for us and then go from there.

I'm sure that you'll make the best decision for you.

Wishing you all the best in your quest for a healthier you.

Regards,

Barb

P.S. Right behind marring my husband and having my children, this is hands down the best thing I have ever done for me.

Thanks, I have been reading a lot of the messages and I see that everyone has their concerns.  I think the thing that hit me hardest is the fact that I am bringing this surgery on myself.  I know that it is the right thing for me and that my other health concerns far outweigh the risks of this surgery.  It is just all too real right now.

Thank goodness I will not have to cook for Thanksgiving.  My doctor puts you on a liquid diet for two weeks prior to srugery.  Where are you having your surgery?  Mine is at CMC Mercy.  I also wish you the best of luck and will pray for you.  I am 55 years old so I don't need to waste any more time being over weight! God Bless, Sandy

My surgery will be at Northeast in Concord. If I have a liquid diet before surgery I haven't heard but may find it out with my pre-op visit. I am 53 so time is a waisting for me also. Since we have similar dates we can complain together. Tee Hee. Good Luck and keep me posted on your prigress. God Bless Myrtis
