CRASH, PART DEUX...
First of all, thank you all for your kind words of support and advice after my car crash on Nov. 6. I did seek out an attorney and am very glad and relieved that I did. He got me a nice settlement for my car and now we are working on medical treatment and expenses for the whiplash I suffered. He got me a couple of days' extension on the rental car which I returned yesterday, the check for the car is ready for me to pick up, and I thought that things were settling down. I have to go to the chiropractor for treatment daily but I thought ok that will be manageable as it is only a few blocks from work and they have a standing appt for me 15 mins after I get out of work.
I have to tell you that hiring an attorney took a great deal of pressure off me and I feel a lot safer now. I am not interested in suing someone, I just want to be protected and did not want to have to deal with that scumbag insurance company any more. I realize this is going to have to involve a lawsuit, but I am not after a huge settlement. I just don't want to be victimized any further.
The day after my crash, I had my pickup inspected, had the oil changed and the air filter changed and figured I was all set with a vehicle I could use until things settle down and I replace my car. No such luck. Yesterday I returned the rental and this morning I got in the pickup to head for work. Made it about 2 miles when the drive belt started squealing like crazy, then the squealing stopped abruptly and the battery and brake lights came on and the car started to overheat!!! It was also making some funky noise in the front axle area. I managed to limp home with it (hope I didn't crack the block with that overheating!), called in an emergency vacation day at work, and am waiting on a callback from my insurance agent to see if I can get a tow and a rental through them. All this before 6 am!
Please keep me in your prayers. Right now I am overwhelmed and cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel. I know I will get over it, but I ask that God step in and take over, please. Your added prayers will help!
Oh, Suzanne. I am so sorry that you are having troubles right now. It seems likes sometimes everything falls apart at once. Hopefully, you can get a reliable vehicle now that you can get your car money. Sorry, the truck is acting up. Hopefully, things will start falling into place here soon. Glad you did get the attorney, since bottom line, the insurance isn't gonna look out for you. It wasn't your fault and you shouldn't have to suffer. I know you aren't money hungry but getting what is due you is the fair thing. best of luck and keep us posted.

Hang in there Suzanne! I'm soooo sorry to hear of your accident. I think it's great that you contacted an attorney. Unfortunately, the insurance companies are only looking out for themselves, and you need to be protected to. Glad to hear that the attorney is taking some of the weight off your back. Hopefully things can move along quickly, and you'll be feeling better and driving a new car soon.
We'll definitely be praying for you!
ALL the time, Sweetie!
Talked to the insurance company. They will pay for the tow. Called a repair shop and they will have the car towed in sometime today.
Called the car rental place and they will deliver a rental to me sometime today.
A step at a time... I have SO many errands to run today my head is spinning! Oh yes, and now I have to buy a car! LOL
