It depends on the surgeon...  as I recall, all they did for my preop was draw some blood.  Oh, and I think I had an xray as well.  Was supposed to meet with the anesthesiologist, but that never happened... did talk with a nurse about what to expect.  No stress, that's for sure!

I just talked to the nurse and anethesiologist..  answered 500 billion questions.  All of my blood and all had been drawn by the time I got to the pre-op interview.  I just had to answer questions and get the lowdown on where I had to be, etc.  GOOD LUCK!!

I'm a Dr. B patient also........here's from my pre-op post......... Post Date: 7/7/07 7:46 am Well, I'm back from the pre-op trip and it went ok, he said just to watch what I eat untill, and start exercising more. That's it!  They did a ekg and gave me all my perscriptions, and I was done. Most of it was waiting or driving. Wow.  So, the big countdown begins!

ok ok...Thanks you two.  That does make me feel better.  I'm just trying to remember what "they" told me to expect. I just know that everything now is rolling rolling rolling....and I am sooo happy!  Lately I've been asked if I'm scared.  I don't think I'm scared because I know how much more healthy I am going to be.  I am just anxious.   Thanks Suzanne and Jennifer. Thanks Nancy.  That's Right!!!  You are a Dr. B Patient.  I'm driving from Gastonia, so I know about driving there.  I wonder if it is going to be a real difference since you are lap and I'm going to have the banded RNY (foubi). ?   I'm just ready to get this show on the road!!

The biggest difference will be in your post op eating - the nutrionist will discuss it with you. With Fobi Pouch you have an longer delay before you can eat solid foods then a regular RNY. I had the Lap RNY and I am glad I didn't get the fobi pouch.  I don't think I could have adjusted to that eating plan with the extra liquids, plus I didn't want a foreign object sewn into my body.  This was the main reason why I didn't go with Lap Band, plus the maintence. It seems like there's a few of you today with preop appointments.  Good Luck.  I remember being nervous up until surgery day.  It will all be good.  The drive from Gastonia isn't bad, it's just when you have to keep going back and forth that it will wear you out. My other bit of advice, take some pain medicine before you go to get your staples out.  Itwill help some too.  Good LUck.

By the time I'm reading this, you've already been to your preop appointment.  So now you know what it's all about.

I'm working on the 28th and will try to come by to see you.  I may see you walking in the halls, too ... you never know!
