Suzanne, I am glad you are alright what a horrible experince. I agree with Wendy go get a lawyer asap. If you are worried about attorney fees that will be included in the settlement with the driver's ins and also any lost wages can be applied. once again I am relived you are ok.                                             Annie

Thank you so much for your support, Annie.  I think God just wants me sitting close to home this weekend.  I was going to go cut some firewood this afternoon, but the saw is in my car which is at the body shop, which is closed!  LOL  Looks like I have NO CHOICE but to do some housework!  UGH!!!

Suzanne, Cutting firewood? You are a stronger woman than I to be running a chainsaw. I hate to say this and it may not be true in your area. I have gotten the feeling many times that southern men take things for granted such as how much we may or may not know especially when it comes to cars and things like that. I sometimes feel very belittled by some southern men. Where I live in NC there is a system that is alive and well I call it The Good Old Boy sytem.                                   Annie

GOOD MORNING ANNIE, THE GOOD OL BOY SYSTEM IS ALIVE AND THRIVING HERE ON THE COAST AS WELL.  AND I GET VERY TIRED OF HAVING TO DO BATTLE WITH IT.  WHEN I MOVED TO THE SOUTH I EXPECTED A GENTLER, SOFTER WAY OF LIVING.  I EXPECTED TO SEE THE TERM "SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY" COME TO LIFE.  I HAVE BEEN VERY DISAPPOINTED TO FIND THAT THE TREATMENT I HAVE RECEIVED HAS FALLEN FAR SHORT OF MY EXPECTATIONS.  I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED WITH SUCH DISRESPECT AND DISCOURTESY IN ALL MY DAYS OF LIVING IN NEW YORK STATE AND ON THE NORTHEAST COAST WHERE FOLKS HAVE A REPUTATION FOR BEING "RUDE" AND SHORT-TEMPERED.  I HAVE TO SAY THAT NC HAS NOT BEEN GOOD TO ME AND I NO LONGER PLAN ON SPENDING THE REST OF MY LIFE HERE. THAT BEING SAID, I HAVE BEEN ON MY OWN FOR OVER 12 YEARS AND HAVE HAD TO LEARN TO DO A LOT OF THINGS FOR MYSELF THAT I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED NOT HAVING TO LEARN, SUCH AS HOW TO RUN A CHAINSAW!  LOL  I WOULD MUCH RATHER HAVE HAD SOME MONEY TO THROW AT WHATEVER I DIDN'T WANT TO DEAL WITH.  UNFORTUNATELY THE MONEY WAS NOT THERE, NOR WAS THERE A "HONEY-DO" MAN AROUND!  AS PEOPLE SAY IN NEW YORK:  'YA GOTTA DO WHATCHA GOTTA DO!" HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY, ANNIE!

Don't sign anything and get an appointment for consultation with an attorney.  And if you trust the attorney, follow the advice.  It doesn't have to become a lawsuit just to get the insurance company to be fair.

Suz!  Now I really feel like crap that I didn't answer the phone, was it right after it happened???????  Am so glad that you're ok, and the other person too, even if it was his fault, you'd hate to have that on your head.  It really sounds like the other insurance is trying to get you to settle quickly so they can close it and you'd be out of luck for anything else that comes up.  I think I'd look into a lawyer that did a free consult.  Or do you know a man at work who knows about things like this?  If your car is totalled, you should AT LEAST get blue book value for it, I am sure that's what they settled on with mine.  Do you think your truck will make it to Florida?  Lucky you for getting to go......have a great time with your sister!  I really want to get down to my Grandparents who are 13 hours away in florida, I miss them so.  Make sure you get truck checked out before you go!  Don't let them confuse you, you're not some dumb chick.  look up your car value at www.kelleybluebook.com, or www.kellybluebook.com,  not sure how to spell it. That's why I am so upset, Nancy.  They are offering me about $2K less than the KBB retail value.  They don't use that and said it isn't recognized by the NC Board of Insurance Appraisers. I think I am going to try to find an atty to help with this.  I hate to go that route, but feel that I am being victimized even more than the cra****self does to me. Yes, somewhere in all of this, I have to get the truck checked out.  I just had it inspected and got the oil and air filter changed, but I am concerned about belts at its age.  It runs great but it takes nothing for a belt to break...  Always something!

Glad you are ok.  You need to call a attorney just to make sure you are recieving everything you are entitle too.  Get you some rest...

I'm so glad that you and the guy who hit you are "okay." Don't settle with the insurance co because they want you to or are trying to bully you with "storage fees" ... It seems like they can just bring the car to your house and you can "store" it there until a decision is made if they want it removed. While, I would consult with the NC Insurance Commisioner office, I'd also check and see if you have a legal referral service through your work. You should be able to get some advice over the phone. This way you don't have to worry about an ambulance chaser and you'd at least know your rights. From here you can make some decisions.
