Thanksgiving ...

I was sort of thinking about doing a turkey breast if we stay home this year. You are right, the left overs are good and turkey is so lean and full of protien.

I hope that you have a nice holiday ... maybe with new wheels ;-)

I will be alone this year but instead of eating out I plan to cook a turkey breast so there will be leftovers and I can fix all of the veggies that I want.   Turkey salad sounds good for the left overs.  I also want to try Pumpkin Parfait.  I might make that for the entire family for Christmas.  I am also truely thankful for my good health and the 60 pounds that I have lost since my surgery.  Even though I will always be considered a diabetic that is a non-issue with me now as well.  Thank you Lord for all my blessings!

Hey Ruby -

I think I'll probably do that too, if we stay home. If not, I'll probably do it anyway.

I hope that you have a lovely holiday and enjoy the good health you have received this year.

Good thread Barb! Me and hubby LOVE Thanksgiving dinner. When I was growing up we had a house full.. now it is just me and him. We go ahead and cook the spread and eat leftovers. Its our favorite meal of the year we are also inviting some of his Troops over for dinner who cannot go home for the holiday so at least I wont have so many leftovers. The boys are always happy to come and eat at our house and to be able to get out of the barrecks for a day. Whatever your plans are I hope you have a wonderful blessed day!!

Hey Gorgeous!

I'm an Air Force Brat, so I'm very familiar with having the troops over. I think that's part of why the holiday has always seemed like one that needs to be shared. I'm sure that all of the fellas (and their wives) will be delighted to share the day with you and your husband.

Enjoy the cooking and the celebrating.

Warmest regards,

Barb

I am some what of a Bah- Humbug during Thanksgiving and Christmas. I haven't spent one with my family in Texas since 1995.   It's always just me, my husband and my daughter. This year my husband's sister (In Charlotte) is going through a very rough and horrible divorce and feeling pretty down. I've invited her and her kids down. It think it would be nice.  I plan on doing smoked Game hens, green bean casserole, grilled asparagus with lemon, baked carrots with allspice, and a salad.  Sugar Free Pumpkin desert.

I think were 50/50 some years we got to a buffet and eat and others we cook.  I'm not sure what we will do this year, we can decide closer.  It does get to be closer to $50 cooking for the three of us and a buffet is about half of that.  We are new to this area and i can eat better then I did last year. This is my 2nd gastric bypass holiday season.  I am so glad i didnt have my surgery during the holiday season but waited until after because I would have been disappointed.  My christmas dinner was rocken last year but i got so sick  i coudln't eat it.  I was so bummed out.  We are very thankful for my DH's job and our new life.  I'm stil sad for the life I left in Charlotte.

I understand about missing what was familiar ... it's been 6 years now, and I still really miss CA.

I hope that this year you will have a much more pleasant experience during the holidays.

Wishing you a lovely holiday.

I was going to go to CT for Thanksgiving but found out we're working.  Our company gives out turkeys, so I'll be cooking!  Happy Thanksgiving all! Love, Diane
