Saying Hello

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.  I've been on the OH Board now for about a week or so. But I just realized (dummy me) that there is a board for NC specifically! YEAH I had my RNY done Aug 30th, 2007 in Pinehurst with Dr. Kenneth Mitchell, Jr. ( 9 weeks post -op today) I had an exciting day today! We had a health fair at work and I got my Blood pressure, BMI, Cholesterol and Glucose tested and WOW I've never seen numbers like that in my adult life! Glocose = 81 (non-fasting) Cholesterol = 156 I'm SO EXCITED! I hope to share my experience and read about others here close to home!  OH - also looking for a support group around Raleigh area. Dr. Mitchell's is once a month, but there have already been a couple of times I could have used one sooner. If anyone knows of any, please share?

We have a monthly meeting at Perkins on the 3rd Saturday of each month and would love to have you come join us.

Your news about your cholesterol and non-fasting glucose is outstanding. For me, that was the reason to do this and getting slimmer is the icing on the cake!

Good grief Barb... I'm speechless after reading you life story AND about your surgery ordeal!  I'm so inspired by how you've managed to get through both and you DESERVE to be EXCITED!!!!! I'm in Zebulon, post-op 3 weeks, so we'll have to get together.  And oh, you picked a perfect day for your surgery (my birthday).

Thank you to everyone for the welcome!  I'm glad I found this!.   My name is Jennifer, Cagair is a nickname I picked up a long time ago. It's Gaelic for "whisper"... Sort of the calling a large person "tiny" concept.  Let's just say my Drama Teachers loved me in school. No microphone needed! The meeting at Perkins - is that the one off I-40 and Capital? (I'm probably silly for asking and there may only be one). Because I'd love to come!

I am fairly new to the board and will be having my surgery on 11-20 - OH BOY - just a few more days and I will be on my way.
