Hi everyone!

Greetings everyone.  I have not been around much over the past few days.  I'm now 12 days post op and I think I'm doing pretty good.  Between all the phone calls, visitors, trips to the bathroom and refrigerator, I don't seem to get much rest or time on the computer.   Having my DH home is distracting too but he is taking very good care of me.  He has to have back surgery sometime after I get recoperated enough to take care of him.   I'm finding out how hard it is to get 64 ounces of fluids in plus the protein drink.  I'm so tired of sweet stuff.  I've added some chicken broth/wonton soup broth which has tasted so good.  It's working, I've lost 12 pounds since the surgery!!!!  Anyway, I'm going to try to take a nap. I know my days of being lazy are numbered. Take care everyone and thanks for all the support!  Alice

Glad to hear you are doing so well. 12 pounds in 12 days....not too shabby!!!

I think everyone has trouble getting all the fluids in. My surgeon didn't expect me to get them all in but just to try my best to get as much as possible.

Enjoy your restful days and naps.....those will become sweet memories soon enough!

Alice -

It's great to hear that you are doing so well. Keep sipping and walking. Remember that the fluids you take in while getting in that delicious sweet protien drink counts. My Dr. didn't expect me to get it all in right away, but wanted me to do the best I could. I have rarely seen anyone who could do it all right away. But you will find, over time, you get to where you can drink more and more. It also helped me when I added Crystal Light to my water ... somehow that made it more palatable.

Keep up the good work. Enjoy saying goodbye to those pounds, you won't be seeing them again.

All the best,

Barb

Thanks ya'll.  It's comforting to hear that others had the same problem getting in all the fluids.  I should have stock in crystal lite as much of it as we drink here at our house.  I have found plain water seems to not be comfortable in my pouch for some reason.   I'm so glad I did this and am so ready to get on to the next phase!   Alice

I'm glad that you're doing so well Alice.  I am sorry that I wasn't able to visit, I was called in to work the day I had intended to come in.  You've been on my mind, I'm hoping that we can get together to walk when you are up to it. Take care. Ellen

such a exciting time. the protein drinks made me sick after a few weeks, I can't stand to even see one of the big plastic tubs without gagging... I found cottage cheese very easy to eat, I bought the Breakstone little tubs, it would take me all day to eat one but it really made my tummy feel good. I got most of my water by making slushies in my Magic Bullet with Crystal Ice stuff I would eat it with my baby spoon . Also I could not take stright broth but I could sip on egg drop soup liquid ... OH well this to shall pass. ' take care
