OORAH!
I just got a call from FillCentersUsa saying they needed to change my first fill appointment.
I said sure, can we make it sooner? So I am now scheduled for November 1st. I AM THRILLED!!! I was first scheduled for Nov 14th, then I called to change it to Nov 7th.
And it will cost me $299, for the 1st visit and fill, and then each additional fill will be $155 only, that includes the office visit. Unless I get fluoro.
Hi GrammyLew -- My fill today at the FillCenterUSA Denver, NC location went great! I will definitely be going back to Dr. Ahigian for my next fill. I was late arriving this morning because I underestimated the drive time and traffic, but Dr. Ahigian was still making rounds at the hospital when I arrived so it worked out. In order to get the fluro I would have had to go to the hospital so he could use their fluorscope which I had planned to do; however, I ended up just going ahead and having the fill in his office because of the time. He promised me that if he felt unsure about anything with my port he wouldn't do it without fluro
It was a piece of cake -- no problem whatsoever -- took him a second to find my port, use some lidocaine to numb ,then he cleans the area (since it's done under sterile conditions), places the needle/syringe, then his table puts you in a standing position and you drink water while he adjusts the saline amount. I ended up with 1.5cc for today. I had no pain during the procedure. I paid $299. I liked Dr. Ahigian -- he and his nurse Ashley spent quite a bit of time talking to me about diet, exercise, etc. He absolutely wants to provide aftercare, not just adjust your band and send you on your way. I was very hesitant to have my first fill without fluro, but he put me at ease and it worked out fine. Also, I learned that he works a half day on the second Saturday each month -- I may try to make my next appointment for a Saturday. I hope this helps put you at ease. I am so relieved that everything went so smoothly!
How do you feel today? Do you have good restriction? What diet do you have to follow after the fill?
I'm feeling great today. I'm on liquids for 48 hours, followed by soft for another 48 hours, then regular diet. I had periodic restriction even before I had my first fill, so we'll see how much that changes once I get to some solids. I anticipate that I'll have a few more fills before I get to that "sweet spot". I'm sorry that you have to drive so far for aftercare. Huntersville and Denver just run right in to Charlotte now (unlike when I was a UNCC student oh so many years ago), so maybe you can make it a fun mini-vacation to Charlotte/Lake Norman.
