Hello Everyone, It's been awhile since I have visited but I hope life is GREAT for each and everyone. Well guess what......The dreaded PLATEAU has come to visit me, and yes I am shouting it at the top of my lungs. I knew my turn was coming but I didn't think it would freak me out so badly,  All I can say is I'm soooooooo scared. Maybe it would help if I told you'll a little info:  I had a lap rny in April '07, I weighed 323 at the time of surgery, my current weight is 226,  I walk everyday for about 20 minutes.  I  eat about 8oz of protein,  per day and drink 80oz of water, I also eat veggies and cottage cheese. I work full time and 2 weeks ago I started nursing school, that when my weight loss came to a screeching halt. I have been looking at other peoples profile and it seems like everyone is losing the lbs. so much faster than I am. I am 6 month out and afraid I want loose the remaining weight.  Anywho, Thanks for listening to me rant and rave.  Take care all Joanne

Oh sweetie, can I relate and here I am with only 3 months under my belt!  I just recently posted about how down I was because I felt I wasn't losing enough weight recently.  Folks pointed out to me what I had accomplished thus far and that is what I am going to do for you.  Look at what you have achieved in so little time!  This is not going to come to a screeching halt!  Another thing you and I have in common is a change in routine.  I started back to work on Oct 1 and that is when my weight loss came to a "screeching halt" as well.  It's just our bodies reacting to the change and additional stress by going into starvation mode and holding onto every calorie.  This seems to be coming around for me in the past couple of days, and it will for you as well.  Stay the course!  This too shall pass!

Joanne I am still pre-op but from what I have read (and know from prior weight loss attempts) the plateau will pass.  You have enough stress with starting school so don't stress over this.  Keep doing all the right things and it will be over before you know it.

(I know that is easy for me to say  and my day will come for that dreaed plateau also!) Mary

A plateau is when you do not lose pounds OR inches for 4 weeks or longer. My first suggestion is to check your inches... I can almost guarantee that you will see a change there. If for some strange reason you dont lose pounds or inches for longer than the 4 weeks I would call your NUT so they can review what you are eating... small nutritional changed can make all the difference in the world. You will still lose the remaining weight... dont worry :-) I had MANY weeks where I didnt lose... I had months where I lost nothing.. but I made it!!

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

HALO laser on arms/neck 9/2016

Thigh Lift 10/2020

Thigh Lift revision 10/2021

To All my OH friends *****sponded or wished me well, Thank you so much!!! It is truly amazing how a few words of encouragement can make all the difference in the world.  They might not change your cir****tances but it helps a great deal in being able to cope. I now feel like I can get through this plateau without losing my mind. Big Hugs Joanne
