Bowel movements in stage 1

When I came home from the hospital I was abel to have 2 bowel movements but after that I have not had any and I feel fine. Is this the "norm" with drinking all of this protein in liquid form ? I didnt want a blockage in my system so I took one ex-lax and even tried and enmema and nothing happen ? This really an embarssing question !!!

I don't think I had a BM for like a week or so after leaving the hospital.. maybe even two.  Your system should straighten out soon...  You are only a few days out...

This is very normal for early post-op.  Everything has to have a chance to get back up and running.  I would suggest not doing any more laxatives or enemas without consulting your surgeon.  Don't forget your system hasnt had any food in it to speak of for some time now.  And it has been pretty shaken up with all the re-routing.  When the intestines are moved around, as in surgery, they shut down on the peristaltic contractions that promote bowel activity.  Don't worry, they will kick in again as needed. 

Don't forget to consume enough liquids. Fluid is a vital part of digestion. Even though its normal for your regularity to change somewhat after surgery, not consuming enough fluid can get you backed up. Water is my new best friend. Hope this helps.
