Three month update

To me you are still really early out not to still be measuring and weighing. IMO the first 6 months post-op is when you should be teaching yourself the good eating habits you will use the rest of your life. Its important to get burned into your head portion sizes and what you need to eat over the course of a day to meet nutritional goals. My nutrition changed at 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 4 months, 6 months then again at 9 months. During the first 6 months I was vigilant about measuring/weighing and logging using fitday.com. After that I had more of a handle on my nutrition... when I was 9 months out and another change was made I did the same for 2 weeks to learn what it was I needed to be doing. Every so often I will go back and do the same for 2 weeks just to check myself and see where I am at. I am pretty much at the point where I listen to my body and know what I need to eat in a day to meet my goals. I also know that I have to always keep an eye on carbs and fat because those tend to slowly get higher and higher on me! I am confident you will get to the same point I am at but it takes time... really use the first 6 months as your learning process... you may fall down - but get back up dust yourself off and get moving again!
3lbs loss is still excellent - you can see by my weightloss chart I had many 3lb months... you have come so far already and dont really have much more to go!!! Seems by your post above you already know what it is you need to do so get to it :-)

You should be completely proud of yourself! 42 pounds is incredible! All of our bodies have gone through so many changes, but yours has been through complete chaos! God created this phenomenal thing called metabolism. It's designed to keep us alive, and yours is just holding back in case you get sick again (which you won't.) Your body will figure it out, and your weight loss will speed up in time. That said, you can help yourself out! Excercise (of any kind) is paramount, and is the fastest way that you can convince your metabolism that you're doing well! There are so many different things you can do. Find the one (or more) that you enjoy! If you like going to the gym, do that. Turn your TV to the exercise channel and do their workouts for free. But the easiest thing is walking, which is why that's what Dr's normally recommend. I know your main man Satchmo would love going for a walk with you! My pups have been in heaven since we've been going on daily walks. Or, go to the mall and walk a few laps while window shopping for all the clothes you'll be able to fit into in a few months! :) Stay positive. In the long run, whether it takes 6 months, 9 months or a year, you WILL be healthier and happier. The only one who can make this work is you, but we're all here to help talk each other through it!
